Spammer sends false data directly to your Google Analytics account. Does not reflect any actual activity on the site.
To Filter Traffic from Google Analytics
- In GA, navigate to Audience > Technology > Network
- Under timeline, change primary dimension to “Hostname”
- From listed hostnames, determine those that should be counted as regular users
- Include public facing domains for the site, YouTube, Mailchimp, other hosts for services the site uses
- Exclude archive.org, dev or staging subdomains, anything that looks spammy
- In admin tab, click “Filters” in the view column
- Click “Add Filter”
- Name filter
- Click “Custom” and tick “Include”
- Fill regex with each allowed domain in “Filter Pattern”
