Spammer sends false data directly to your Google Analytics account. Does not reflect any actual activity on the site.

To Filter Traffic from Google Analytics

  1. In GA, navigate to Audience > Technology > Network
  2. Under timeline, change primary dimension to “Hostname”
  3. From listed hostnames, determine those that should be counted as regular users
    • Include public facing domains for the site, YouTube, Mailchimp, other hosts for services the site uses
    • Exclude archive.org, dev or staging subdomains, anything that looks spammy
  4. In admin tab, click “Filters” in the view column
  5. Click “Add Filter”
  6. Name filter
  7. Click “Custom” and tick “Include”
  8. Fill regex with each allowed domain in “Filter Pattern” youtube\.com|designmedia\.com|demo\.designmedia\.com
