Entry
Another discouraging day at work. I got sorta reprimanded by Pamela May at 🏢 Design Media because I hadn’t completed rollout of the addition of the trademark symbol to the web site when the reason that was the case is that I sent an email to her, Denise Macias, Kevin Lovering, and Scot Muncaster back on 2021-07-28 asking them to review the work on the staging site. That email never received a single reply. She did not apologize for her part in not seeing that to completion and just said that she “thought that had already been done” as if to suggest I had dropped the ball.
This looks to me like a lack of integrity. Yes, we all forget things or have things slip through the cracks. I certainly do as well. It’s very nice when that happens and someone reminds me, but it isn’t my expectation they would do that. I would expect that, if a person notified me that the ball is in my court, I dropped said ball, and they didn’t happen to think to send a reminder, the responsibility for that would rest squarely on my shoulders. Pam doesn’t seem to see it that way. Is there anything that responsibility would fall on her for, or is that perceived as part of the privilege of being in a leadership role?
We talked about this over the phone which brought back to the forefront another issue: RingCentral is garbage. I just used it less than a month ago, and when she called, I already had to sign in again. Seems like it defeats much of the utility of having a second number on a device if I have to sign in every time I use it.
With all that frustration out of the way for the week, I finally finished Death’s Door. What a delight! It was an absolute pleasure all the way through. So glad I bought it and played it.
I also continued to work through 30x500 course project. I’m very driven to do that now, and my fear is that drive will wane when Scot Muncaster comes back. He really does a lot to smooth out the experience of working here. It’s not the added responsibility or the deadlines – I’m fine with those when they’re respectful of me and realistic. It’s the way Pam and Denise are to deal with directly. They’re not very nice, and they have low integrity. It makes for a challenging environment to work in.
