- Numbers database April fools video
- I do a simple math query like
select 2 + 2;
- It gives me the answer, and I decide that must mean the team is secretly working on a comprehensive math database that stores every number and the result of every operation on every number.
- I get on Slack and tell Sully we have to get on a call
- I tell him I’ve figured out what they’re working on.
- He asks what
- I tell him that I discovered the comprehensive math database we’re building into EdgeDB
- He admonishes me for being an idiot and explains that I’m just using operators built into EdgeQL to do math. I’m not querying a comprehensive math database.
- I’m confused and get off the call
- I turn to the camera and say something like, “I guess maybe I was wrong about the comprehensive arithmetic database… unless”
- “Follow my logic here. If the team really were working on a comprehensive arithmetic database and didn’t want me to know for fear I might accidentally let it slip on our Twitter account at twitter.com/edgedatabase, on our Discord channel at <url>, or on our web site at edgedb.com, he would say something just like that.”
- Cut to Sully, head in hands, saying something like, “This is why we have Devon in dev rel and not in engineering.”
- Fade to black
