Importing

  1. Connect SD card to computer
  2. Open Final Cut Pro X
  3. Use Media Import (down arrow button in upper left of UI)
  4. Select the video from the flash storage
  5. Settings
    • Add to event named for the video
    • Files > Copy to library
    • No keywords
    • No audio roles
    • Transcoding > Create proxy media
    • Analyze and Fix > Remove silent channels

Start project

  1. Create a new project with the same name as the event inside the event
  2. Pull the imported clips into the project
  3. Right-click on the clips and detach audio
  4. Select all video clips and copy them. Paste as the end of the timeline.
  5. Drag the copies to the track above and move to the beginning of the track
  6. Press period (.) to offset copies by one frame to the right
  7. In the video inspector (top-right, film icon button), Compositing > Blend mode to “Lighten” and opacity to 50%.
  8. Add a shape mask to all the copies and shape it to the smart light
  9. Select the original clips and the copies. Right-click and “New Compound Clip”. The compound clip can share the name of the project.
  10. Trim off the last frame to avoid a frame with just the light.
    1. Press the down arrow key while focused in the timeline to jump the playhead to the last frame.
    2. Press the left arrow to move back one frame.
    3. Press alt-] to trim from the playhead to the end.
  11. Select the audio tracks
  12. Apply the “Rad Devon Studio Voice” effects preset

Bumpers

  1. Blade a clip or leave the playhead at the point to start the bumper.
  2. Pull bumper from the “raddevon.com bumpers” and drop it above the main track. It should snap to the playhead.
