Our hackathon is fast approaching. Here’s what you need to know:
- We’re kicking off tomorrow at 6pm Pacific.
- Baseline technologies are HTML, CSS, and Javascript, but your team of two is welcome to use other tech as well.
- I’ll show you how you can collaborate with your partner using CodeSandbox, but you’re welcome to use anything else that works for your team.
- The event is free and open to beginners.
- Voice is highly recommended. Video is optional.
Even beyond the collaboration piece, if you’re not sure how to get started with your project, you can hang out in the main room after we split off for a quick demo project starter.

- Intro to me
- Tell what the event is going to be.
- Pair up
- Split into our pair
- Code together on a project of your choosing until 8pm. (You probably won’t get as much done as you think you will, and that’s OK.)
- I’m here to help if you need it. You’re not on your own.

- Demo collaboration with CodeSandbox
- You don’t have to use this, but this is an easy way to pair remotely on web projects
- Show how to select a template
- Quick tour of the UI
- Click “Live” button (two people)
- Hit “Go Live” button
- Share URL with your partner
- Split off with your pair
- Go to https://meet.jit.si/ and click “Start Meeting”
- If you want me to stop by occasionally to check in, copy/paste your URL into the chat here.
- Once you’ve pasted in the URL, you can leave this room if you’re ready to get started
- Bookmark this room so you can come back at 8pm (time from now for people not in Pacific). Come back any time and post in the chat or say something if you need help.
