• Worst advice I’ve ever received is **__**. (doesn’t have to be about coding)

Fall into line. Most things I’ve achieved have happened because I kept pushing until I got what I wanted. Not because I settled for what was easy.

  • My first coding project was about ****__****.

I built some web sites when I was about 13-14. I don’t remember them very clearly but I’m pretty sure they were about video games. I cloned Pong in Visual Basic when I was about 15.

  • One thing I wish I knew when I first started to code **____**.

I got an associates degree in computer science, and I thought I would automatically have a job writing code after I graduated. The placement office sent me a single job posting and never talked to me again. That started me on about 10 years of doing retail, working in a call center, and working in IT. I wish I had known I had to go get the career I wanted, and that I could make that career for myself. I didn’t have to wait to be picked.
