Intro

Hope everyone had a nice break. Back when it looked like the smoke was clearing before the delta variant started making the rounds, my daughter was having some trouble with depression. I was trying to get some events on the calendar, and the timing was perfect because events were starting to happen again.

I bought tickets to the Penny Arcade Expo, which is a video game convention that’s what brought me here to Seattle for the first time back in 2009. I also got tickets to a few concerts: one I would like, one my daughter would like, and one my wife would like.

The expo and one of those concerts happened last weekend, and we ended up deciding not to go after seeing guidance from the Washington Hospital Association that said no one should be going to any sort of events, regardless of mask and vaccination requirements.

Even though we didn’t get to go and that was a bummer, the anticipation of those events did some work. Anticipation is powerful, even without the payoff. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed, but I also don’t feel like my money was wasted.
