I sent you a message on LinkedIn before clicking on your logo in the upper left corner to find out about a free mentorship session. Here is my background.
I have been a QA Engineer for 8+ years with multiple startups and worked on web automation using Selenium. My current trajectory is to become a QA lead at my company as a steady role. My manager is providing me an opportunity to mentor junior engineers. I have leadership qualities and enjoy teaching others. This Friday, I am giving a virtual talk to teach coworkers’ kids using Scratch. I have been volunteering at Girls Who Code at my local high school and having my first virtual mentorship session @ Hackbright Academy. I get to practice my public speaking skills that I miss when I joined Toastmasters in my early career. With these volunteer opportunities, I can continue mentorship and teaching.
I live in the Bay Area and have two daughters who will turn 1 and 3 in July. I want to do freelance gigs for supplemental income and have some college money saved up for them. I am retaking a 6 week online Javascript course via Sitepoint ( 1 hr live session to go over questions/weekly project, chat online using Sitepoint circle) to learn ES6 concepts as a refresher. I previously coded JS with ES5. I also enrolled in an online React course as a hot JS framework that companies use. https://alterclass.io/courses/react
My dream job is to work at https://chanzuckerberg.com/careers/ as a Full Stack engineer there. I live their goals and values. I am into EdTech.
The other dream jobs include being a Google Developer Expert or a developer advocate at a company. These are high goals.
I wanted to know any recommendations and who are good people to follow and learn from in the tech industry.
I look forward to hear from you.
