I came here from your YouTube channel. I have to say this you make such great quality videos 👏 I’m going to start reading The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman got this suggestion from one of your video.

I’m front end developer from India. My goal right now is to earn money using the skills I have, like right now I’m learning MERN stack development. I want to pay all the debt we have in our family. What usually happens that when I ask someone for advice or suggestions related to career they say “calm down man you have lots of time” but they don’t know what’s going on in my mind like my goal right now is to clear all the debt my father so that he can live peacefully. My father been thorough huge heart surgery, so I don’t want that my father should take any tension so that’s my kind of life purpose to get out of debt. You’re the first person that I’m telling all that stuff that’s going on in my mind.

I’m mailing you and telling all these things because I know that you’re on very top level in your career and maybe you can give me right guidance.I know that I’m doing my best and eventually I’m going to earn lots of money but I don’t think that my dad have that much time so either I can choose to be patience and work on stuff that’s going to be helpful in long term or either I can start earning money right now and pay all the debt in one year.

Notes

Suggested that he try freelancing instead of trying to join a startup. He’s not ready to pass an algorithms and data structures interview and isn’t interested in ramping up right now. Let him in on the forhire subreddit and gave some tips on how to better compete for jobs. He also asked how to gain confidence in technologies that are new to you. I told him to build projects and build small proofs of concept for upcoming paid work.
