Hey Devon,
Thank you for this email and for the great content you are putting out there. I am sure many are benefiting from it on a daily basis, that must be quite a feeling, right?
Well, to answer the two questions in your email:
I’m currently working on my first real-world project. I am creating a website for a friend’s business. Alongside that, I am learning new things every day (mostly following the FreeCodeCamp’s curriculum), working as an online language teacher, all of this while striving to remain present at home and to be a better father and partner.
Nothing is really holding me back. I am just finding it difficult to transition from learning to working. Like most people in a similar position, struggling to get that first job that gets you rolling.
I hope that answers the questions in your email. All the best.
I’ve already replied to the first email I got from you but let me answer this one more specifically. I studied civil engineering at uni, then project management, got certified as an English teacher a couple of years later, and now I am teaching my self web-development. I use a variety of resources but have mostly followed the curriculum available on the FreeCodeCamp’s website. On that site, I’ve finished the first two certifications, which cover the basics of HTML, CSS, and JS, and am about to finish the third one (front-end libraries and frameworks). Mostly I want to land my first job or start freelancing to get an insider’s feel of what it is like working in the industry. That pretty much sums it up.
Hoping you think a meeting could be helpful. Looking forward to hearing from you.
