First of all, thank you for doing this and advance Merry Christmas :).
I’m a career transitioner, left my decade career in the nursing field started on this journey of entrepreneurship. I first started tinkling HTML & CSS then I stumbled on to web design. However I felt there was something lacking and as I tried to go deeper. I found UX design and that was the answer I was looking for of what was missing. I then enrolled in a 3 months course UX design and got a first hand experience of the basics of how it works and I came up with my own project I’m looking forward to bring to fruition. Right after finishing the course I had 2 clients, applying what I knew then about UX design, one pro-bono and one paid. While working on these projects my interest in coding and programming lightened up again. I did start learning web development and I found myself enjoying this more than the UX/UI design process. I know now this is what I really wanted to pursue.
I’m a mom of two and the reason I left my nursing career is to have that flexibility in time where I can attend to my kids needs and be there right away whenever they need me. And this is what had been happening for the past few months and it’s working really well so far. And of course, I wanted to have that financial stability I had when I was at my nursing job as a nurse manager. I switched on to this field with the goal of building a full time business out of this.
For months I’m so mixed up with what kind of developer I want to be, a web/mobile app developer or a software developer because I believe this is the easiest path to making money while learning ( I want to be able to develop my project during my UX design course as well), but then I’m also very very interested in neuroscience and health tech related that will make impact to the healthcare system and patients in general.
We’ve been living out of my savings and it’s running out so soon and I don’t want to go back to my nursing job 🙈.
This is where I am, sorry for the long background :).
Happy Christmas!
