My name is Christy and I currently work as a mid-level front-end software engineer for ClassPass.
A bit about me…
I’m on track to become a Senior Software Engineer, which would open up a lot of doors for me to work in big tech companies. But, I think that would actually take me further away from my goal. During code school, I was the first student to bring in a real client for our final project. After that, I did some contract/freelance work for a real-estate startup and then was hired at an Ad Agency, building web apps for various clients. That said I LOVED working on client projects and with clients, but I felt I needed to dive deeper into some technical skills. Working at ClassPass for the past 2.5 years, I’ve worked on a lot of complex architecture, supporting web apps and services at varying scales, and built lots and lots of web pages with React.
What I’m hoping to get out of mentorship…
I’m sort of at a crossroads since I could stick it out and stay on track to get to Senor level or should I make the jump to doing the work I loved? I have some questions and would like to get a better sense of what to expect during the transition from full-time SWE to freelancer.
