I’m a university student (Bsc. Computer Science) currently doing an internship at a company in Kenya. They’re mainly focusing on backend development using python,which is what I’m currently into although the idea of maybe eventually securing a job and being ‘underpaid’ doesn’t feel right. Also the idea of experience doesn’t give me a competitive advantage and honestly I don’t know where and how to start in freelancing, nice podcast on CodeNewbie.
I believe freelancing will open a whole world of global opportunities which aren’t readily available where I am. I’d also like to be self sustainable and at least have some cash to spend on the things I like. Also would like some real hands on experience to enable me work on some projects I have in mind.
As far as web development goes, I’ve touched on a little JavaScript using nodejs plus the usual html/css and web development using python Django. I’d like to use frameworks but its been kinda difficult to know where to start so probably I can’t say I’m good at it. That’s about it and would really appreciate a mentor. Hope the time zone (Nairobi/Kenya) issue isn’t a problem for you if you ever decide to give me a shot.
