We got a late start calling Emily. She did not answer the first attempt. Ambria tried again. Emily answered on the second attempt.
Ambria apologized for being late because she was playing a game and lost track of time. Emily asked what she was playing. Guild Wars 2, an MMO. Emily said it sounds like fun and asked if it was on computer. Yes.
Emily asked what else she has been doing. She went grocery shopping and that’s about it.
Emily asked how school went. Pretty good. Emily asked her favorite class. Ambria considered and answered ceramics because the people she sits with are funny and they get to “actually do stuff” sometimes. Emily asked what her first project will be. Ambria doesn’t know. Emily said it should be “really neat.”
Emily asked how French class is. Good. There are only 10 of them. Emily said she could be the start student then.
Emily asked if she has classes with friends. Not many but some. Emily asked if she’s glad to see them. Yes.
Emily said Reda didn’t get a rose from Elvis, but she got a scarf signed, “To Reda, Love Elvis.” Emily asked if Ambria has one. No. Emily said she would need to work on that. She said he could write “love always” on hers. Emily doesn’t think it was one he wore during the performance. She said he may have gotten it at the Dollar Tree.
Ambria said it’s starting to get cooler here. Emily asked the temperature. The high for the last couple of days has been mid 60s. Emily said it’s 95 right now. She’s waiting for cool weather and doesn’t see it. Ambria said it’s still technically summer. Emily tried to recall the first day of fall.
Ambria said she has her first assignment. Emily asked what. It’s a “who am I” presentation for baking class. Emily asked if she has to bake something about herself. No, they just make a PowerPoint about that answering some questions. Emily asked what they were. Ambria listed some of the questions. They talked about what people should do when Ambria is in a bad mood. Emily asked what she answered for what makes her feel accomplished. Being able to see something she put effort into and having people praise it. Emily asked if she likes recognition. Yes. Emily said that makes sense.
Emily said she has her new school nails on. Yes. Emily asked if they ever almost come off. Not yet. Sometimes it will break further back but not for a while after you get them.
Emily asked if she found her locker. No. Emily thinks she doesn’t have one. She thinks they’re telling her they have one to give her “a false sense of security.” Emily asked how many floors her school is. 2. Emily asked how many times she’s fallen. “Multiple times.”
Emily asked if they have a big band. Ambria thinks so. Emily asked if her friends are in it. Galaxy. Emily said she can’t recall that friend’s name. Emily asked about McKenzie. Ambria said they were friends until a couple of years ago. Emily kept trying to come up with a current friend’s name. Ambria told her Summer. Emily asked for another. Ambria said those are all her female names. Ambria mentioned Maya but said she doesn’t see her much now. Emily said that was the one she was thinking of. Emily asked about male friends. Ambria listed a few. Emily asked if they have running start. No. Ambria named a couple who are. Emily asked if Galaxy and Summer are doing any running start. No. Emily said she is “putting these names in (her) memory.”
Emily asked if she had her psychiatrist or psychologist meeting. No, her next one is next week.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily said she will tell Reda Ambria is jealous of the Elvis scarf.
Ambria said she wants to go. Emily wished her a good week and said they will talk at about 6:15 on Wednesday. Ambria said she will hit as close to that as she can.
