Emily asked what she’s doing. She just got home from the store. Emily apologized for the wind. She’s sitting outside.
Emily asked what she got and noticed a tank top. She told her she got some underclothes.
Emily asked if she’s not in her program anymore. Ambria said Friday was her last day. Emily asked what the thing was that she had. It’s a pop-it (fidget toy). She told her about the sending ceremony. Emily asked what that involves. Ambria told her. Emily said she’s going to switch places. She said it’s cutting out. She asked Ambria to repeat. Ambria repeated her description of the sending ceremony. The remaining kids tell them why they appreciate them and they share things with them too. Emily asked if it was hard to figure out what to say. Ambria said it was, but she thought about it beforehand. Emily asked if you say it to the group. Yes. Emily asked if you can say one to the whole group or to each individual. Ambria said you say something different to everyone. That’s what she did.
Emily asked what she wore. She wore what she’s wearing right now. Emily asked if she wears black socks and then said she guesses it’s because she has the black shoes. Ambria said she got some black and some white. Emily commented on the tags that hold socks together.
Ambria told her school starts in a week and a half. Emily noted her white socks she was opening. Ambria said she got them in the kids section. Emily said that might make them cheaper. Ambria doesn’t think any adult socks would fit her. Ambria didn’t buy the biggest kids’ socks. Emily said if she can feel her feet, they’re not tight enough.
Emily asked if she’s wearing “jogging pants.” Ambria said they are sweat pants. Emily told her not to make a hole in the socks she was cutting open.
Ambria said that’s what she did today and they went grocery shopping. Emily said her hair has grown “by leaps and bounds.” Ambria thinks it looks that way because she’s slouching.
Emily asked what she does now that her program is over. She has her virtual program 3 hours a day, 3 days a week. Emily asked about it. Ambria doesn’t know exactly, but she will let her know.
Emily told her to try those socks on and see how they fit. Ambria did. She said they are nice. Emily asked if she worries about seams. Ambria isn’t “super weird about it,” but she has to make sure the seam isn’t on her toes. She tried another kind on and said they’re higher but still OK.
Emily asked what the picture behind her is of. It’s a painting Ambria did of a city silhouette with the sky behind it. Emily said she likes it and it looks professional. Ambria did it for art class.
Ambria cleaned out her closet. Emily asked if that’s in preparation for new clothes. She found a lot of stuff she doesn’t wear or can’t wear anymore. Ambria said she gets sentimental about clothes. Emily asked if she remembers the shirt she designed in preschool. Yes. Emily said she still has it. Emily found a lot of clothes at Reda’s house she isn’t going to wear anymore. Ambria was able to get rid of a lot more stuff she hasn’t been able to before, like the size 7 dress Edie bought her. Emily said she tries hard not to be sentimental, but there are some things she can’t get rid of. She has some band shirts she can’t get rid of. Ambria suggested she cut a square out and made a banner for her room. Emily talked about a jean jacket she remembered that belonged to Ambria. Ambria knows the one she’s talking about, but she doesn’t have it. She has one like it.
Emily asked to see the pop-it. Ambria showed it to her. Emily said she thought it was a bow.
Emily said she is glad the program went well and the send-off was good. She asked if Ambria cried. No, but she almost did. She got some things said that no one else got said about them. She said she was the “leader” of the place. She told Emily they referred to her as the “main character” of the mental hospital. She told about how she got things done through the community group. She got good at leading it and adding personality to it. Emily said she guessed that “all in all, it was a positive experience.” Emily said she was proud. She said it’s good to hear words of encouragement and to know you made a positive impact on someone’s life.
Emily asked if Ambria got contact information. Yes.
Ambria told her Nana and Poppy will get here tomorrow, so she’ll let her mom know when she wants to do her call. Emily asked if she’s going to take them around and whether the aquarium has a beluga whale. Ambria isn’t sure.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily said she will.
Ambria said she wants to go. Emily thanked her for telling her about the sending ceremony and for teaching her that she’s still and artist and likes socks. Emily said she will talk Tuesday. Ambria said they can go back to Wednesday. Emily said to let her know what time works on Wednesday.
