Emily offered Ambria an opportunity to talk with Reda while Emily was visiting with her. Ambria agreed. Emily messaged the evening of the call and asked if Ambria could call at 6:15pm. Ambria agreed. Emily messaged again in a few minutes and asked to change the time to 6:25pm.
They said hello. Emily said she would turn Ambria up and turned something on. Emily asked if she could see Reda. Yes. Reda said hello. She said something about what was around Ambria’s neck. Emily described her necklaces.
Reda said she looked “so pretty.” Reda asked if she’s blushing. No, it’s hot. Reda asked if it’s cold or hot. Ambria says it has been hot.
Ambria asked what they did today. Reda said something about flooding in Kentucky. Ambria said, “Hmm.” Reda said houses were washing away.
Emily asked her to tell where they went. Reda said they went “everywhere.” Emily started listing places they’d gone including Hobby Lobby. Ambria said it sounds like fun.
Emily said she’s having a cheese quesadilla. Reda is having fries and a hamburger. Ambria had PB&J. Emily said she’s “big on” peanut butter and jelly.”
Ambria said school starts on September 7th. Emily asked Reda to guess what grade she would be in. Reda guessed 5th grade. Emily said she’d guessed it. Emily said the weather there is nice compared to Texas. Ambria told her it’s been 88 today. Emily said that isn’t “too bad.”
Emily is having a banana pudding shake. Ambria asked where she got it. Cookout. Emily said she got piece of chicken and she’ll be back.
Reda said something about a bottle. She wasn’t talking loudly enough for the mic to pick her up.
Emily said she didn’t get what she ordered. She ordered a cheese quesadilla and got a chicken quesadilla. Emily asked if she likes quesadillas. Yes. Ambria told her she had a veggie quesadilla yesterday. Ambria doesn’t know what was in it. She guessed it had bean, tomato, and onion. Emily asked if she likes cilantro. Not really. Emily likes it.
Emily said the cats are “doing good.” She said they haven’t “bit me yet.” Emily asked which she wants to see. Ambria told her whichever is easier to get.
Reda said something that wasn’t picked up on the mic. Emily showed Panda on the camera. Ambria said hi to it. Emily said it wasn’t too difficult to get her.
Emily asked Korra’s last name. Lince. Emily asked her to spell it. Ambria did. Emily asked where it’s from. It was derived from Vince, her favorite character in Pet Pet Park. Emily asked where “Ava” came from. Ambria thinks it came from a book of baby names. Emily said it’s better than naming it after a different animal.
Emily asked if ripped jeans are the style now. Not really anymore. Ambria said people still do it, but it’s not as pervasive. Emily asked what’s in because she sees a lot of them in stores. Ambria doesn’t know. She said since they started back to school, everyone wears whatever they want. She doesn’t notice trends as strongly.
Emily asked her to tell Reda about Spot It. Ambria said she just played it. Emily said she would lose because you have to be quick at spotting. Reda asked about the card game they had played together. It was Egyptian War. Ambria described the rules. She said her explanation was confusing. Reda said something but it was unintelligible.
Emily asked her to tell about the video games she’s been playing. Ambria said she played Animal Crossing and described it briefly. She told about Splatoon and the new edition that’s coming out. Emily asked when it’s out. Ambria thinks it’s September 9th. Emily said that isn’t much longer.
Ambria said she got a letter from Edie who said Braden is 6’4”. Emily said that’s tall. Emily asked how tall Ambria is. 5’1”. Reda said she’s still taller. Emily repeated Ambria’s height. Ambria asked who. Emily said Reda is taller than Ambria. Ambria asked how tall. Reda said 5’6”.
Emily said Ambria cut her bangs herself and said Ambria thinks she should do it too. Emily agrees. Ambria asked how tall Emily is. She is 5’5”. Ambria said “Oh.” Ambria said she might still grow. Reda said she should.
Emily said she loves a good Coke. Emily asked if Ambria can see the necklace. Ambria said she can and asked where it came from. Reda found it at the house.
Emily asked if Ambria recalled they got Reda’s ear pierced last time. Yes. Emily showed her something about that and asked if Ambria’s are in today and which they are. Ambria showed them. Emily and Reda discussed ear piercing.
Emily asked if Ambria can hear. Yes. Emily said they’ve been busy today. She thinks she’s taken a lot of steps. They talked about getting in and out of the car. Ambria asked what they will do tomorrow. They talked about it. Emily said Benny and Scarlet may come for a while tomorrow.
Emily asked what classes she’s taking. Baking and pastry (Reda said she can open a donut shop and asked if Ambria will pay her. Yes.), psychology (She’s excited about it.), graphic design, ceramics, another year of language arts, a semester of American government, and AP French. Emily said that’s a “more faster paced and most stuff is covered.” Reda asked her what she can say in French. Reda asked what. Ambria told her to give her something to say. Reda asked her to say, “I love you.” Ambria did. Emily asked her how to ask how to get to the boba tea shop. Ambria thought about it for a few minutes and said it. They joked about it.
Emily asked what she hopes to make in ceramics. Ambria doesn’t know but she needs more art credit. Emily made a cowboy boot and thinks Reda still hasn’t. Reda isn’t sure she does. Emily said she’d better. Emily tried to make a cat. That didn’t work, so it became the boot.
Emily said she took psychology. She said she learned a lot. She said they watched a movie that she can’t remember. She said it was her last class of the day.
Emily asked what she’s reading. Ambria told about the manga series she’s reading. Emily asked why she didn’t study Japanese. They don’t have it at her school. Emily asked if she could study it on Duolingo. Yes, but she’s done a lot of French. They asked if she’s going to France. Ambria wants to go. Emily asked if there’s a need for translators “up there.” Ambria said probably.
They talked about whether Ambria had something. Ambria said that was a while ago.
Emily asked what size shoe she wears. 5 or a kid’s 3.5. Emily said that was what she thought. Emily said Reda had Skechers and asked if Ambria had them. No, she doesn’t. Reda talked about a pair Ambria had that matched a pair Reda had. Emily said she’d probably outgrown them. They were navy blue. Ambria doesn’t remember them. Reda continued talking in the background.
Emily asked if Reda’s full. Emily asked if Ambria can still do a cartwheel. Yes. Emily said to keep it up. She told about a time she had tried to do one. Emily pretended she was a gymnast, but she is not.
Emily said she wanted to be an ice skater or a writer. She joked that those had panned out. Emily said she had skated twice in her life.
They talked about Ambria’s teeth and how they were pretty. They said something bout horses.
They showed off fingernails. They told about everything Ambria could do with her fingernails.
Reda said if someone gives a dollar and owes 45 cents, what is their change? Ambria said 55.
Ambria said she should get off the phone soon. Reda asked what she needed to do. She’s going to take a shower. Emily asked if she washes her hair every day. Ambria does every other day. Reda said something about washing her face every day. Emily asked if she lets her hair dry or puts something in it. Ambria said she lets it dry. Emily said hers gets frizzy.
Reda started pointing out all the places on Ambria she would kiss. Emily said she’s getting old. Emily said that had embarrassed Ambria.
Emily said they would talk to her later. She showed Reda on the camera. Someone made kissing sounds. Ambria said “Bye. Love you.”
