Emily had told Ambria during their last call that she would have to change the call time. Emily said she would message on Skype but never did. Ambria decided to try her at their regular time.
Emily answered the call but did not say anything. Ambria said hello, but no one responded. Emily’s voice finally came through with “Can you hear me?” after about a minute. Then the call disconnected.
Ambria retried the call. Emily answered, and they could hear each other.
Emily asked about her math test. Ambria had the test and felt good about it. They lost connection for a bit. Emily said she was glad it wasn’t as hard as Ambria had feared. Ambria told her it took her a while, but she thinks she did OK.
Emily asked about science. She had that test on Tuesday, and she did OK on it. She accidentally didn’t answer a question. Emily said, “That happens sometimes.”
Ambria said they had their French vocabulary test. Emily asked how it works. They study the English definition and the French word. For the test, they have to match the word with a French description of the word. Emily asked how it would work for the word “airplane.” Ambria described it to her. Emily asked if they do it in groups (meaning are the words themed). Ambria said it’s centered around the words they don’t know in their in-class reading.
Emily started breaking up as she was asking about Ambria’s nails. Emily asked if she got them re-done. Emily continued to break up. She seems to have a poor connection. She started coming back and Ambria asked her to repeat what she said. Emily asked if she picked red because that’s her favorite color.
They talked for a bit about what was happening with the call.
Emily asked if she’s off for an entire week. Yes. Emily said she’s glad Ambria is getting a break from school. She said she knows it is tiring.
Emily asked if she’s still going to the play tomorrow at 3pm. Yes. Emily asked what time she is leaving. Ambria said they should have a call by 2pm. Emily asked if they should do a call after she’s back. Ambria said that’s fine, but it might have to be after dinner. She said that might be 5:30. Emily asked if she will be done with all that after 5:30. Ambria will text her.
Ambria asked if she’s in a hotel. Yes. Emily asked if she looks tired. Yes. Emily said she’s not there yet.
Emily asked if she has plans with friends this week. Not yet, but Galaxy wants to go with her next weekend when she gets her nails done. Emily asked what color she is getting next. Ambria hasn’t decided. Emily asked what they do. Ambria explained how it works with the fake nails. Emily froze and could not be heard. We could hear her voice as the call was also trying to reconnect. Ambria continued with her explanation.
Emily asked if Ambria could hear her now. Emily asked her to continue about what shape of nail she gets. Ambria gets the square ones for now. Emily asked what the color is. Ambria said it’s more cranberry. Emily said they’re “very noticeable.” Emily said she is glad Ambria is getting them done.
Ambria said she should go. Emily thanked her for calling. She will let Ambria know about timing for a call with Reda. Ambria said OK. Emily said she will talk tomorrow.
