Skype said Emily is offline. Ambria tried again, and the call rang.
Emily asked how she is. Good. Emily said it’s about 65 degrees, and she’s going to take advantage of it. Ambria told her it will be 55 here in a few days.
Emily asked how school is. Good. It was a short day. It even felt shorter than a regular Wednesday.
Emily asked about her necklace. It’s chrome.
Emily asked if she did anything this weekend. We went to the mall. Emily asked what she did. Ambria told her the stores she shopped at. Emily asked if the Japanese import store is the one she’s mentioned before. No, that’s the book store. She’s only been to this one a few times. Emily asked if it was crowded. Somewhat. Emily asked if they have a food court. Yes. Emily asked if we ate. No, we ran out of time.
Emily asked what she got at Hot Topic. Ambria mentioned a few things she got, including the Hello Kitty items. Ambria couldn’t remember them all. Emily said it was “neat.” Emily asked if she had the bucket hat on her list. Yes. Emily asked if she wears it to school. She wore it Monday. She said she would take it off her list. Emily said she couldn’t find them online or at the store when she went looking. Ambria wore it with her Hello Kitty socks and arm warmers. Emily asked if people said, “Hello, Kitty.” No, but they noticed it was coordinated.
Emily asked if Summer came over. Ambria texted and she didn’t answer. Emily asked if she saw her at school. Yes, but she didn’t bring it up. Ambria knows she is anti-social and doesn’t want to force her.
Emily said someone has their sunroof up. She said the grass is starting to grow a bit. She left her cactus outside and it died in the snow. Emily is down to six plants. She said she thinks she did it a favor by letting it die. Emily listed them.
Ambria told her they’re doing a project in history class. Emily asked what it’s about. It’s about reform movements in the progressive era. Emily asked if she has to present it in front of the class. No, in front of a small group. Emily asked if she minds stuff like that. Ambria’s OK with it. Emily said she would have rather “died 15 times.” She did a speech on the flute in 7th grade. The teacher called off the speech that day, so she had to do it another day.
Ambria asked how Reda is. She’s doing “good.” Emily said nothing to report. Emily said Reda said hello and she loves Ambria.
Ambria said she wants to go. Emily said she will talk to her on Saturday. She asked if Ambria’s doing anything over the weekend and asked if Summer might come over. Ambria thinks she doesn’t like doing anything with people outside of school.
