It took several seconds after Emily answered before she was visible and audible. She asked if Ambria could see and hear her. Yes.
Emily asked how finals are going. Ambria still has to finish some essay questions tonight. Yesterday was her easiest day this week.
Emily asked if it’s cold. Ambria said the high is 40. Emily said she looks cold and she guessed Ambria just got in.
Emily asked if she’s had her math final. That’s tomorrow.
Emily asked if she’s having the same classes next time except for photography. She got independent living instead of photography. Emily asked what independent living is. Ambria assumes it teaches skills required for living as an adult. Ambria said she may try photography next year. She’s also going to be changing science teachers. Emily asked which science. She’s going to have chemistry B. Emily asked if she’s in A now. No, she’s in physics B.
Emily asked if she’s liked all her teachers. Yes. Emily asked if she has favorites. Yes. Ambria likes Mrs. Shu since she’s had her every year. She likes her history teacher because they work with partners a lot and don’t have to write many essays. Emily asked if she has to go to advisory. No, only on Wednesday. Emily asked if they just do homework and check in there once per week. Yes. They always have a powerpoint presentation and class discussions, but it’s not much. Emily asked when they go there. After 2nd period.
Emily asked if she has classes with friends. She has people to talk to in every class and can make new friends. Emily asked if she made new friends this year. Yes, a lot. Emily asked if there are any she doesn’t see much in person. Yes. There are some she has tried to hang out with but it hasn’t worked out. Then there are others she isn’t close enough with to hang out with outside school.
Emily asked if she had plans this weekend. Ambria said she got her booster. Emily asked how it went. Ambria said it just made her tired the next day and she had arm pain. She was fine by Monday. Emily asked if she was “super tired” and had to take “a bunch of naps.” No.
Emily said Reda is doing OK. She’s stopped therapy because she’s reached her baseline. She does her arm exercises alone. She may have more if she gets unsteady or weak.
Emily said it’s been chilly there. It’s in the 50s now. She’s about to go shopping.
Ambria told her we went to IKEA the weekend before last and got a kitchen table. Emily asked what it looks like. Ambria described it. Emily asked if it has four seats. Yes. Emily asked if it’s tall. No. Emily said every time she goes she has to walk through the whole store to get out. She tries to follow the exit signs and can’t find her way out. Ambria said we went straight to the warehouse this time. Emily gets the sticky rollers to clean cat hair. She tried their veggie hot dog and said it was “OK.”
Emily asked if Ambria hears the crow. Ambria laughed. Emily said he’s loud.
Emily has tried their ice cream. Ambria hasn’t tried it. Emily said it’s “pretty good.” That’s all she has tried. Every time she goes, there’s a long wait in the cafeteria. Emily went one time to find a particular table. She found the display and figured out how to find it in the warehouse. She got the table but not the legs. Ambria laughed.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily said she would. Ambria said she should go. Emily wished her luck on the math final and asked some questions about it. She said she would be thinking about her and that she will talk to her on Saturday.
