Ambria called Emily. She said she had signed herself out on Skype. Emily asked if she could wait 5 minutes and call her back on Skype.
Ambria called Emily back. She answered this time. She asked faintly if Ambria could hear her. Ambria said hello. Emily apologized, but she was hardly audible. She said she’s having a salad. Emily asked if she’s having yogurt. “Mmm hmm.” Emily said she likes it and asked if it’s strawberry. Yes.
Emily asked if Ambria wanted her to show her yard decorations. She took the phone outside and switched cameras so Ambria could see everything.
Emily asked what Ambria has been doing. Yesterday was her last day of school. Today she’s going grocery shopping. That’s kind of it.
Emily asked if her school had heightened security. Yes. They had people patrolling the halls. They made sure the kids knew what to do in a real lockdown. Emily asked what that is. Ambria asked how Reda is. She’s “doing OK.” Emily thinks she’s going to Benny and Scarlett’s for Christmas. Emily said Jimmy is “not doing too good.” Ambria asked if he has a stroke. Emily said Ambria might know more than she does. She said nothing in particular has happened, but his family checks on him several times a day. Ambria said she guesses he’s pretty old. Emily said he’s in his 80s. Ambria said it was weird to think about. Emily agreed.
