Emily said she had someone who wants to see Ambria. She was apparently with Reda.
Reda said she’s getting taller and that she looks pretty. They said hi to each other. Reda asked how school is. Ambria said it’s good. Reda said some things we couldn’t understand. Emily interpreted Reda wanted to know about her French pen pals. Ambria said she just got a letter recently. Reda said some more things that were unintelligible to me. Ambria understood them and replied she takes French class.
Reda talked about Ambria’s hair and how she used to style it in a way similar to Ambria’s. Emily noted that Reda’s hair was brown.
Emily told Reda Ambria is taking trigonometry. Reda said they tried to teach her that but she “didn’t know what it was.”
Reda asked if she’s ready for Christmas. Ambria said she got all her cards sent. Reda asked if she sent very many out. Ambria said she sent a lot, and Reda should get hers soon. Ambria told her she sent it to Brenda.
Emily asked Ambria to tell about her science class. Ambria said they’re learning about force – “how objects move when stuff pushes on them.” She said they do all experiments on their laptop. She said her teacher is out taking care of a new baby and their substitute is now out with Covid so they have a new substitute. Reda thought she heard he was taking care of an old lady.
Emily read Ambria a card, and Ambria laughed about it.
Emily and Reda were both talking. I couldn’t understand either of them. Reda is speaking relatively clearly for her.
Reda told Ambria she loves her and looks at her picture a lot. Ambria asked which picture. Emily showed it to her and asked which year it is. Ambria asked which shirt she’s wearing. Ambria said it was her 8th grade picture. Emily noted that was 3 years ago. Reda said she has a picture of her when she’s in the 8th grade. Ambria told her she sent a picture of her from this year. Emily asked if she could get one. Ambria said she doesn’t have many, and asked if she’s sent her a digital picture. Emily said she hadn’t. Ambria said she will send it.
Emily told Reda Ambria has cut her own bangs a while ago and asked Reda if they don’t look good. Reda agreed they do. Reda said something about a haircut.
Reda asked how her teeth are. Good. Emily asked if she has to wear a retainer at night. Yes. Emily asked if it’s top and bottom. Yes. Reda asked if she has braces now. It’s been 4.5 years since she had them. Emily had hers from 3rd to 9th grade.
Reda said something about Santa being skinny. She mumbled a few more things. Reda asked about a Christmas parade. Ambria said they have them here, but we haven’t for a while because of Covid.
Emily asked if she’s doing roller derby. Ambria said she doesn’t think so and it’s already started. Emily asked if she will do it in the spring. Ambria said she’ll be too old because she turns 18 right after it starts.
Reda said she will send a picture of Brianna. Ambria thinks she remembers her. Emily said she’s a day older than Ambria. Ambria hit her with a water balloon. Emily said her mom was 4 years older than Emily. They were cousins and she wanted Emily to be just like her. They used to stay overnight.
Emily asked if her sweater is new from her birthday. No. Emily said it looks warm and asked what the weather is like. Ambria said it’s in the 40s today. Emily said that’s cold.
Emily asked if she still practices cursive handwriting. Ambria doesn’t use it unless she has to. Emily said that makes it a treat when she gets something from Ambria written in cursive.
Reda said she went to Benny and Scarlett’s Thanksgiving. Ambria asked how it was. Reda said there was a lot of food there.
They blew kisses to each other over the phone. Reda told Ambria all the places she would be kissing her if she had her there. Emily said she knows they love each other.
Reda asked what she wants for Christmas. Emily chimed in that Ambria likes black clothes and clothes with belts attached to them, necklaces, ear rings, pants with holes in them, ripped jeans. Reda said she had some that were ripped and asked Ambria if she thinks they will fit. Reda asked if there’s anything she needs. Ambria said there was nothing she needs. Reda asked if there’s anything she wants. Ambria is making a list. Reda asked for a copy of it.
Reda asked if she’s wearing her glasses. Ambria said she got them a few months ago. Reda showed her purple glasses. Emily told that Ambria’s are black.
Reda asked if she still likes to color. Yes. Emily asked if she colors the adult coloring books. Yes, and she was just coloring one. Emily asked if it’s the one she sent her about the dog. Yes.
Emily said to let her know when Ambria wants to go, and she’ll let Ambria said goodbye. Emily asked if she still ice skates. Ambria hasn’t been in a while. Emily asked if there’s a rink. Ambria thinks there are some, but she doesn’t know where they are. Emily asked if she has her own skates. Ambria said she would probably never use them.
Ambria said she should go to grocery shop. Reda asked if she walks. They ride the bus. Reda asked how she gets off the bus. Ambria asked what she meant. Reda wants to know how to make the bus stop. Ambria told her they pull a cord.
Emily told Reda she’s going to go shopping. Reda asked if she’s ready. Emily told her she is. Reda asked if she’s wearing a hat.
Emily asked if Reda wanted to tell her bye. Reda said if she goes shopping, she should get something good to eat. Reda asked how much Ambria weighs. 93 lbs.
Emily and Reda said bye to her while Ambria waved. Reda said to call her “if she’s ever down this way.”
