Ambria called Emily. The call rang for about a minute and a half before Skype said she is unavailable.

Ambria retried immediately and got Emily to answer. She didn’t say anything for about 20 more seconds before asking if Ambria could hear her.

Emily asked what she’s doing. She just got back from shopping. Emily asked if she got anything good. Ambria got kiwis. Emily doesn’t like them much.

Emily is going to a Day of the Dead festival. She’s never been to one. She showed Ambria her shirt. She said it was 48 this morning.

Ambria told her she got one of her ebay packages. Emily asked when she’s going to open them. She’ll do it when she gets them. Emily said that’s a good idea because it’s hard to wait. She told her she get the new drawing tablet in the mail. Emily asked who got it for her. Nana and Poppy. Emily asked her to describe it. Ambria did. Emily said it “makes sense.” Emily asked if that helps her see it better. Ambria said it’s for digital art. Emily said that “makes sense” and asked if she asked for it. Yes. Emily asked how long she’s been looking at them. Since the end of the summer. Emily said she can now make digital art instead of on paper. Ambria agreed.

Emily asked if she’s hanging out with her friends today. Ambria doesn’t think so.

Emily asked if she finished the math test. Ambria said she graded it one side at a time. She got an A- on one side and a C+ on the other side. Emily said it’s “not bad considering it took you multiple days to do it.” Emily asked if she cried over it. No. Emily said that’s better than the other kids did.

Emily asked about her French pen pals. She asked if they’re waiting on her to write back. She’s waiting for a reply from the one she’s talked to the most. Emily asked if she has one male and two females. Right now, Ambria just has one she writes to regularly.

Emily told her Reda is “doing good.” She’s been walking without her cane more using handrails. She doesn’t know exactly how it’s going, but she’s not had any accidents.

Ambria told her she’s about to start her first big project in art. Emily asked what. They’re doing a self-portrait. Emily asked if it will be from a picture or memory. Picture. Emily asked if she has a picture picked out. They haven’t done that yet. Emily asked if she’ll use her ID. That one doesn’t reflect her. Emily asked if they’ll have objects to represent them. Ambria doesn’t know yet. Emily asked what props represent her. Ambria doesn’t think they’re using props.

Emily said it’s in the upper 70s right now. She asked if it’s been colder here. Ambria said yes, but it’s supposed to get to 66 today.

Ambria told her they have a unit test in history on Monday. Emily asked what it’s on. Ambria said it’s westward expansion. Emily said she has a vague idea what that’s about. She said she has trouble memorizing dates and asked if Ambria has the same problem. Yes.

Ambria said she’s going to try her drawing tablet today. Emily asked if she’s going to set it up today. Ambria has done most of the setup. Emily wants to see her drawings. She asked if she’s looking forward to using it. Yes. Emily said it will open her up to new styles.

Ambria said she wants to go. Emily thanked her for changing the call time. Ambria didn’t reply. Emily said she will talk on Wednesday.
