They wished each other good morning. Emily asked if she’s taken recycling and trash. Not yet. Ambria just got out of the shower.

Emily said her new cat had “an excessive drooling episode.” She took her to the vet, and they couldn’t find anything. Emily said she “eats weird.” She’ll get one piece of food at a time, chew it, spit it out, and get it again. Emily said she’s not drooling today. She got it all over her desk and papers yesterday. Emily said she weighs 9.5 pounds.

Emily asked if she had the day off yesterday. Yes. Emily asked what she did. She hung out with Jacob and Diego and worked on packing. Emily asked how much she has left. Ambria doesn’t know. She got most of the stuff she stores in her closet, most of her shelf, and her bedside tables. Emily said she’ll have to wait to pack those items.

Emily has a strong echo. When Ambria talks, her voice echoes back into the mic.

Emily asked her about roller derby. Ambria is still waiting to see what happens. Emily asked if they’re still in their off-season. Ambria isn’t sure when the season starts – maybe the end of the month.

Emily asked how she did on her math quiz. The teacher told them it made some people cry. That made Ambria feel better. Emily asked, “What was he teaching to make people cry?” Ambria doesn’t know. Emily said maybe she won’t count it. Ambria thinks she will grade on a curve. Emily thinks she might have to teach it a different way. Emily asked what it was over. Ambria said it’s “a lot of things I don’t know the words for.” Emily asked what the class is called and guessed pre-calculus. That was right. Emily asked if she’s going to take calculus next year. Ambria thinks she will have all her math credits after this. Emily asked if she didn’t take two math classes in one year. No, but she took 9th grade math in 8th grade.

Emily asked what else she is doing in school. They’re drawing eyes in art. Emily said it was “neat because eyes are hard to draw.” Ambria told her thye’re drawing realistically. Emily asked if she’s learning anything new. Yes, she’s never tried drawing realistic eyes. Then they’re going to draw mouths and noses in prep for self-portraits soon. Emily wants to see her self-portrait.

Emily asked if it was still “nice and cool outside up there.” Ambria told her it’s in the 50s. Emily asked if she liked that. No. Emily asked if she’s doing anything for Halloween. Not yet. Emily asked if friends are doing anything. She doesn’t think so. Emily asked about “the one girl you talk to sometimes.” Ambria guessed Kit. That’s the one. Ambria hasn’t talked to her since school. Emily asked about McKenzie. She hasn’t talked to her either.

Ambria asked how Reda is. She’s “doing OK.” Emily said she painted the pumpkin blue and “everything ran together.” Emily said it sounds messy. Ambria asked her to tell her hi and she loves her.

Emily asked if she’s still doing volunteering. No, and she doesn’t know when she’ll be able to again. Emily asked if she has several hours of homework a night. Ambria said it depends. Emily has to go work on her coffee maker. She said she’s had it for 6-7 years now. She may have to upgrade. She’s looking at a Keurig Mini. She said it gets moldy if you leave the water in.

Ambria said she wants to go. Emily asked if she’s going shopping today. Yes, at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Emily asked what she gets at Whole Foods. Pizza and yogurt. Emily asked if she’ll be closer to those when she moves. Yes. Emily said not to work too hard moving and that she has plenty of time. Ambria agrees. Emily hopes she has good days at shcool.
