Emily asked what she’s doing. She just got home about a half hour ago. Emily asked what she’s having. Kettle corn. Emily asked if that’s just crunchy popcorn. Ambria said it was sweet. It’s the kind from Trader Joe’s. Emily said it sounds like she’s eating pieces of gravel.
Ambria told her they had a test on US states yesterday. Emily asked how she did. She got them all right. Emily asked which state she labeled first. She did them in the order they were on the test, but she usually tries to do them in a specific order so she doesn’t leave any out.
Emily asked what she’s doing in drawing class. They’re doing a city in one-point perspective. Emily asked if it’s a specific city or just a generic city. They just have to have six buildings.
Emily asked if tomorrow is her picture day. Ambria isn’t sure. Emily told her it’s a tough decision.
Emily asked if she’s talked to any French pen pals. Yes, she wrote to the same person last night and today. She’s getting some info from them for a project they’re doing in class. Emily asked if she hand writes them and mails them. No, they do email.
Ambria told Emily she has two projects right now. In French, her group is comparing education in France versus here. In history, they’re doing a research project. They were each assigned a person – a woman, African American, or a tribal person. They’re going to rewrite the declaration of independence from their perspective. Emily asked if they picked people or were assigned. Ambria was assigned a tribal person from the Cherokee tribe. Ambria is researching in the Tennessee encyclopedia.
Emily tried some French pastries. She said she wasn’t blown away. They weren’t very sweet, which she’s OK with. She tried a bread that was good. She said it wasn’t worth the cost. She wouldn’t go back. Ambria told her we have a French bakery nearby that is good. Emiliy asked what she orders. Ambria gets macaroons. Emily doesn’t like them because of the crunch. Ambria said the chocolate croissant is also good. Emily hasn’t liked those either. Ambria thought maybe they are made by Americans and they don’t do it right.
Emily told her Reda said she loves her. Ambria said to tell her the same.
Ambria said she’s trying to learn to ollie on her skateboard. She’s not having any luck. Emily asked if she fell. No, she’s holding onto something. Emily asked if she practices in our parking lot. No, they say not to skate there. Ambria told her that she’s been practicing at the park behind the elementary school and at the parking lot behind the library. Emily asked if she skates down the street. Sometimes but she can’t keep going very well.
Emily asked if she finished her portfolio cover. Yes, they finished on Monday. Emily asked if she’s talked to friends. Yes, she has at school. Emily asked if she has outside school. ?no?
Emily asked if she’s doing Halloween this year. Ambria wants to dress up but isn’t sure that she’ll do much. Emily asked who she will be. Toga. Ambria wears the stuff sometimes. Emily asked if she wears it to school. Yes.
Emily asked the difference between the colleges in the US versus France. Ambria isn’t sure. Their project is about high schools. Emily asked if they require more hours or if it’s more strenuous. Ambria said high school is 8am to 6pm but they have a 2 hour lunch. Emily said that’s a long time to be in school. Emily said, “It’s whatever you get used to.”
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily asked for a picture of her picture day outfit. Ambria told her she took a picture last week and she will send it. Emily asked if she will smile for her picture.
Emily asked if she’s in any clubs. No. Emily asked if she’s not in French club. Ambria thinks they are meeting Friday during lunch, and she might take part. Emily was in Spanish club. She told a story about that.
