Ambria tried to call Emily but Skype says she is offline. She tried again immediately. This time, the call rang, but Emily did not answer. Skype said she was unavailable (online but did not answer). Ambria tried again immediately at 9:00 AM. This time, Emily answered.
Emily said good morning and asked if she called before. Emily said the other attempts didn’t ring but told her she had a missed call.
Emily asked what she has planned this morning. Grocery shopping. Emily asked if she had her smoothie for breakfast. Ambria showed it to her. Emily said it was a “big boy smoothie.”
Emily said she’s planning to go to the holocaust museum. Ambria asked where it is. Dallas. Ambria asked how long it takes to get there. 30 minutes. Emily asked if Ambria has anything like that “up there.” Ambria isn’t sure.
Emily asked how school is going. They’re getting used to things now. Emily asked if classes are in “all different parts of the school.” Ambria’s are all on the second floor but in all corners. Emily asked how many floors it has. 2. Ambria told her it’s a “U” shape and tried to show her with her hands.
Emily said today she has a large drink and described all the components of it. She said, “It’s not horrible, but I’ve had better.”
Ambria told her they did their first big project in art. Emily asked how it went. It was good. They had two days to work on it. It’s the cover for their portfolio. Emily asked what the portfolio is like. Ambria doesn’t know because they haven’t seen them. Emily asked if she’s doing the checkerboard with black and white. Yes, and it’s finished. Ambria showed her. Emily said it was neat. Ambria told her she might outline the letters. Emily asked where she learned the bubble letters. Ambria doesn’t remember learning anywhere.
Emily asked about pre-calculus. At first, not great but she’s caught up and knows what they’re doing now. Emily asked how it was bad and gave some options. Ambria said “yes” to indicate all of them. Emily asked if she was behind because online school wasn’t effective. Ambria understood everything from last year. She’s not sure if she forgot a bunch of stuff or if she just didn’t understand. Emily said she’s glad Ambria figured it out and that it’s hard not understanding what you’re doing.
Ambria told her they had a quiz on states in History. They had to put them on a map. Ambria said she did well on the pre-test. Ambria credits her map on her wall for that. Emily liked “doing the states.”
Emily asked if picture day is Monday. Ambria said Thursday. Emily told her the shirt she’s wearing makes her eyes look green.
Emily asked if she’s seen her friends. Yes. Emily asked if they’re still friends. Most of Ambria’s friends changed schools. Emily said maybe she could make new friends.
Ambria told about her letter from Benny and Lolly. Emily asked what it said. They told about visiting Reda and some other things.
Emily said she would show the pets but they are occupied.
Ambria asked how Reda is. She’s good. Emily said she eats a lot. They eat tacos and fish sandwich.
The older cat came over and Emily showed it to Ambria. Then the young one came and Emily showed that one. She put nail caps on the cats’ feet. Emily saw a squirrel she wanted to show. Then she realized it’s a bird. She told that the cats get mad at the birds when they’re drinking water and that it entertains her.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi. Emily said she would. Ambria wants to go. Emily said to have a good week at school and hope she isn’t “overly confused.” Emily said she had something to ask. She can’t remember. She said she would talk on Wednesday.
