Emily asked what Ambria is doing. Ambria said she just got done with some drawing. Emily asked what she’s drawing. She’s doing an art class and working on shapes. She opened her sketchbook to show her work. Emily said that was teaching her how to make things look three-dimensional. Ambria agreed. Ambria showed her some practice with perspective. Emily said she thinks “that would be helpful for you.”
Emily said she went to the grocery store yesterday. She said a young girl ran out in front of her. She said the girl almost ran into her and apologized. She said the girl looked just like Ambria and was carrying a “huge carton of Goldfish” (the crackers, I assume). Ambria said that was funny.
Ambria told her she hung out with Kit yesterday. Emily asked if that’s one of her friends. Yes. Emily asked what they did. They hung out in the Junction, got ice cream, and walked to the park. Emily asked what ice creams they got. Emily liked Ambria’s choice. Emily asked if the park was a long walk. “It’s kind of a long walk, but sometimes you don’t notice it.” Emily asked who she is. Ambria told her she’s gone to school with her for a while. She said she’s changing schools, but she’s not moving. Emily asked if she lives close. She lives close to one of our old apartments.
Emily asked if that’s her first friend meetup. No, she’s been meeting friends the last few weeks. Emily asked how she’s doing on spending money. Ambria has been slowly using $100. She doesn’t know exactly how much is left. Emily said “at least you have money to go do things with your friends” when they want to do things like get ice cream.
Ambria told her we are having a heat wave this weekend. The high Saturday is 93 and Monday is 97. Emily said, “It’s a hot one, isn’t it?” Ambria agreed.
Emily asked if she’s listened to the BTS and Halsey song yet. Ambria keeps forgetting.
Emily said she will catch up on “all the new songs” when she goes back to school. Ambria said she doesn’t know what her friends listen to. They don’t talk about it much.
Emily said maybe she and Kit can go get bubble tea soon.
Ambria asked how Reda is doing. She’s “graduated” from physical therapy. She can’t have Jello and can’t use straws. She said that’s about it. “Not a whole lot going on.”
Emily quickly pivoted to herself. She said there’s not a lot going on with her either. She hasn’t had any more bubble tea. Ambria told her we had Mexican on Monday. Emily asked what she got. A quesadilla. Emily asked if she just got chicken and cheese. Yes. Emily said she remembers Ambria got the wrong thing one time. Ambria said she got a burrito that time.
Ambria said she wants to go. Emily said she’s glad she’s getting to hang out with her friends. Emily asked when she’s doing her drawing class again. Ambria said it’s self-paced and she does it every day. Emily asked what else she’s going to do this summer. Ambria told her about the job training camp. Emily asked what job. Ambria said it’s not for a particular job.
