Ambria tried to call, but Skype said Emily was offline. She retried immediately and the call rang.
Emily said good morning. Ambria said hello. Emily asked how she is. Good.
Emily said she was drinking peppermint coffee. She said it was OK but not her favorite.
Emily said it’s getting into the 30s tonight. Ambria asked what it’s like here. Ambria said it’s cloudy. Emily asked if it’s supposed to rain. Ambria doesn’t think so.
Emily asked if she’s thought about things she wants for Christmas. Ambria put some things on her list and looked at “the thing you said to look at.” Emily asked if she found anything she likes. Yes. Emily asked if she put it on the list. Ambria doesn’t know how but she will send the links.
Emily said she wants to send her something and needs her new address. Ambria asked if she wants to write it down now. Emily said to hang on. She came back. Ambria gave her the address.
Emily asked if she had a good Thanksgiving. Yes. Emily asked how the pie turned out. Good. Emily asked if she made the lattice. No. She said it would have been really hard. Emily agreed. Ambria said she thinks it was good. She doesn’t really like apple pie, so she’s just eating the ice cream. Emily said she isn’t a fan either.
Ambria told her we watched Christmas movies. Emily asked which. Ambria told her we watched Gremlins. Emily asked if it’s a Christmas movie. Ambria told her it’s set around Christmas time. Ambria told her we downloaded some others. We got the Grinch. Ambria told her she wants to watch the Dolly Parton Christmas movie. Emily asked if it’s a new one. Ambria thinks so. Emily isn’t sure what she has watched. Emily said there are several on Netflix.
Ambria told her she looked for things she wants for Christmas yesterday. Emily saw Ambria’s water bottle and said she liked it. Emily asked if it’s pink or purple. Light purple.
Emily asked if she’s been to Starbucks. We used a gift card Nana and Poppy got us but we used it all.
Ambria told her she picked out some clothes on eBay she wants. Emily asked if Nana and Poppy will get to visit for Christmas. Emily said she was hoping they would but “that’s understandable.” Ambria said we will probably Facetime. Emily said “that will work, won’t it?”
Emily asked when she starts back to school. Monday. Emily asked if it’s still a close walk if she has to walk. Yes, it’s about 3 blocks. Emily asked if she’s still taking a break from roller derby. She guessed they were on a break. Ambria said they were doing in-person practices, but she wasn’t going. Emily said she didn’t think that’s what roller derby was. Emily thinks it would be hard to do that and still follow the guidance.
Emily asked if she’s going to get into another sport that doesn’t require close contact. Probably not. Ambria isn’t good at a lot of sports. Emily said she isn’t either and that’s OK. Emily said she wouldn’t have been good at roller derby.
Ambria told her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily said she would.
Emily asked if she “trades classes” after the new year. Ambria said yes. Emily asked if woodworking will be over. Yes. Emily asked if she’ll be doing yoga. Yes. Emily asked if she’s done her woodworking project yet. She’s been figuring out how. They talked about how she’ll do it.
Ambria said she wants to go. They ended the call at November 28, 2020 9:11 AM.
