Ambria called Emily. Skype said she is offline.

Ambria retried immediately. Again, Skype said she is offline.

Ambria retried September 19, 2020 9:00 AM. The call rang through this time and Emily answered.
They wished each other good morning. Emily said Skype says she missed a call but it never rang. She said she was trying to clean up coffee she spilled. She dropped her lid into the coffee and it splashed out.
Emily said she has an update on Reda. She was exposed to COVID by her roommate. She has not tested positive. They moved her to a unit for people who have been exposed but are not positive. They will re-test her on Monday. Emily isn’t confident in the tests since the results come back differently every time. Emily said that, even if she comes back positive, she may not have it. So far, though, she’s tested negative every time. After a time in quarantine, they will move her back. They told Emily not to worry. Her vital signs are good and she doesn’t have a fever. Emily said they are increasing their monitoring of her. Emily said it “doesn’t mean anything at all. It doesn’t mean to be worried.”
Ambria told her they finished their first week on normal schedule. Emily asked if it went OK. Yes. Ambria said it was hard to do the 1:45 at first, but it’s getting easier and they get breaks. Emily asked if they get a bathroom break. Yes.
Yesterday, she has history, LA, and math. Emily asked if each class is 1:45. Yes. Emily asked if they have their lunch and then a break at the end of the day. Yes. Emily asked if they cover more material now than in person. Ambria doesn’t know. Emily asked if she’s in any accelerated classes. Most 10th graders take Geometry but she’s taking Algebra 2. Emily asked if she takes geometry last year. Yes. Emily asked if she took something in 8th grade that allowed her to do that. Yes, she took algebra. Emily asked what math is next. Ambria doesn’t know. Emily asked if she has algebra 2 next semester. Yes.
Emily asked what she’s doing in woodworking. They talked about what place they’re going to use to make things and what tools they have. The teacher gave a tour of his woodshop. Emily said that was neat. She asked if it was the one at school. No, it’s his personal one. Emily asked if he showed anything he’s made. No, he’s still working on the shop. Emily said she didn’t have woodshop, but she made a birdfeeder in art class. The birds used it at least once. She corrected herself that it was a birdhouse. The bird flew out and scared Reda. Emily said it may have been the time she was stung by a wasp.
Emily asked about the smoke. Ambria thinks it’s getting better. She thinks it’s a lot better today than last week. Emily asked if she’s gotten to go outside to skate. No, today is the first day the air quality has cleared up. Emily said maybe she can go outside over the weekend. Emily asked if it’s hard for her to stay inside. Ambria said she’s used to it.
Emily asked if she’s heard of an aerogarden. No. It’s an indoor garden that “aerates the stuff.” She said you grow herbs and vegetables. They come already in some container that runs water under them. She said she will look into getting Ambria one if she wants to grow something inside. Ambria sounded interested. Emily said she could look them up. Ambria said she will. Emily said hers has room for 7 different plants. It comes with plant food and lights that tell you when to feed the plants. Emily said “that thing does all the work.” Ambria said that was cool. Emily said to think about it.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her if she talks to her. Emily told her not to worry about the COVID thing. Ambria said she wanted to go. Emily said she’ll talk Wednesday, hopes she has a good week, and hopes gets to skateboard. They ended the call at September 19, 2020 9:12 AM.
