Ambria called Emily on Skype. Skype said Emily was not online.
Ambria called again and Emily answered. She asked what Ambria is doing. She just finished playing Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Emily asked what time she got out of school. Ambria said it was a work day, so they didn’t have a specific time.
Emily asked what she’s doing in Animal Crossing. She’s trying to pay off her loan. She made a soccer field and a diner. Emily started playing a couple of days ago. She’s been catching fish participating in fishing events. There are new bugs, new fish, a different eel. She’s making a cat tower.
Emily said she wants to make a list of Ambria’s birthday. She said it would “be here before you know it.”
Emily asked if she’s been going outside. No, because it’s been smoky. Emily asked if there’s a lot of smoke. Ambria said she thinks it’s starting to go away.
Ambria told her she started her normal school schedule on Monday. Emily tried to name all her classes.
Ambria has been doing research on what she’s going to make in woodworking. She wants to make something out of recycled material. Emily said that should be interesting. Emily said she could make a hat or a pair of socks. Ambria asked out of plastic? She said she could do a raincoat.
Ambria’s thinking of getting the cat a Halloween outfit. She said she despises her. She said she doesn’t really but acts like it.
Ambria said tomorrow she has French, Biology, and woodworking. Emily tried to name her classes for Friday. She got them.
Emily asked what she’s learning in World History. Ambria said they’re doing pre-Columbian (Incan, Mayan, and Aztec civilizations). Emily asked what she’s going to enjoy the most in school. Ambria said maybe woodworking. Emily said she wants to see the projects. Ambria said OK.
In French, they all sit in the front of the room. The teacher stands in the middle, talks, and does the actions. Now, they talk over each other and at different times online. Emily asked if she talks or just listens. Ambria talks too. Emily said that’s kinda crazy. Ambria told her about saying “bonjour.” Emily asked if they do roll call in French. Ambria said they just wave. She tried to get them to say it at the beginning of the year, but no one did.
Emily asked about language arts. She asked which books they’ll read. Ambria doesn’t know yet. Emily said they might get a syllabus. Ambria said they haven’t gotten it yet. Emily asked if she’ll get all the work done during their afternoon time. Ambria thinks so. Emily said that will work out well.
Emily asked if she’s still talking to McKenzie. Ambria said she’s going to try to talk to her today. Emily asked if she’s talked to anyone else. She couldn’t remember any names. No. Emily asked if they have classes. Ambria named two she has classes with. Emily asked if she’s in class with the twins. Ambria said no. Emily asked if she had friends who were twins. Ambria said she was friends with them in 7th grade. Emily said she didn’t think it was that far back. Ambria said last year she was friends with a triplet.
Ambria asked her to tell Reda hi and she loves her. Emily said they have another COVID case. So far, Reda’s “doing good.” They check her vitals and they “come back good.” Emily said she will tell her.
Ambria said she wants to go. They ended the call at September 16, 2020 3:25 PM.
