Emily asked what she’s been doing. Working on school most of the day.
Emily showed Ambria the cat.
Ambria said she has her roller derby workout tonight. Emily asked how you practice balancing. They stand on one leg. Emily asked if she likes the yoga part.
Emily said it has rained all day today and it’s cold. Ambria told her it’s sunny and in the low 60s here.
Emily said her plants are getting too much rain. She’s afraid her cactus won’t make it. Ambria said she planted some tomatoes, peppers, and “green stuff.” Mixed greens. Emily said she’s going to do some herbs and baby tomatoes. She has a planter box on wheels. She drags it into the sun on her porch. She likes fresh herbs on her food.
Emily asked how they do her schoolwork. Some of the teachers send things to print out. Some of it you can “take notes and stuff.” Emily asked if they have Zoom calls. No, but they have Microsoft Teams calls. Emily said, “That’s helpful then.” Emily asked if they record themselves taking the necessary steps to solve problems. She asked if some teacher leave them to figure it out. Yes, but they can still asked questions. Emily asked if they have meetings with other classmates. They are in meetings (like Tuesday French meeting). Emily asked if she speaks French the whole time. Most of the time unless they’re trying to figure out how to make it work.
Emily asked how she’s doing in her games. She hasn’t been playing any recently. Today is her 46th day streak on Duolingo. Emily asked if she’s had too much schoolwork. Not really. Emily said she “takes it by spells.” Then, Emily made fun of herself for saying that.
Ambria said they’re starting a discussion in history on the documents they’ve been reading because they are going to write an essay. Emily asked if they have to post their thoughts online. The teachers start discussions online. Emily asked if it’s working out. Yes.
Emily asked if they’ve extended or shortened the year. Ambria thinks it’s the same. Her language arts class won’t have more work after May 31, 2020, but the last day of school is the same. Emily said she hoped Ambria might get a break. Ambria thinks they probably won’t be doing stuff for the last couple of weeks anyway.
Emily asked if she’s reading any books. She’s reading a murder mystery. Emily said that sounds interesting. Emily said it sounds like she’s keeping busy.
Emily asked if they’ve given us any fewer restrictions on leaving the house. No, but we’ve had the door open today. Emily said they’ve opened parks and Dollywood will reopen soon.
Emily said she walked almost 5 miles. They have the playground equipment roped off. She ran into two other people while she walked.
Ambria said she wanted to go. They ended the call at April 29, 2020 3:24 PM.
