Emily asked how she is. Good. Emily is “doing OK too.” Emily said it’s bright outside and in the 60s. Ambria said it’s bright here too but not in the 60s. Emily said yesterday it’s in the 70s. Ambria said she didn’t go out yesterday but she thinks it wasn’t hot.
Emily said the governor issued a stay-at-home order. He tracked cell phone data “which made people mad.” She didn’t care. He said teenagers didn’t obey the order, so he issued a stay-at-home order. Emily said Wal-mart has put a plan into place: they have a dedicated entrance and exit. They fill the store to 20% capacity and allow people in one at a time. Ambria said that’s what they’re doing at Trader Joe’s. Emily said no social activities, like no swimming pools in the summer. Ambria asked how long. Emily said until the 14th, but she hopes longer than that. Emily hopes it’s at least until May, maybe longer. Emily thinks it will really spike in the next few weeks, more need than beds.
Emily asked what it’s like here. Ambria told her our order goes until May 6th. She won’t be going back to school on the 27th. It will be May 6th or later. Emily doesn’t know what they’re doing for school there. They’ve called it off until the last Monday in April. Emily said it’s “kind of a weird time.” The Knoxville Expo Center will be used for overflow. She’s not sure if it’s for COVID or something else. Where Emily lives, there’s one small hospital. It’s been “running in the negative” for several years now. They closed some smaller hospitals. There are some small ones near the Kentucky line. Emily said they have large areas without access to major hospitals.
Emily said, “Other than that, what have I been doing. Not much.” Emily said she thinks he will close the parks. She likes to walk but doesn’t think it’s worth it. She has a neighbor who opens the door and plays music loud.
Emily said she guesses Ambria has been playing her games. Yesterday, she played Splatoon and Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart. Emily asked how she’s been doing. She plays single-player and usually comes in 1st or 2nd. Emily asked about Stardew Valley. Ambria also played it yesterday and did OK.
Emily asked if she’s just hanging out playing games. Ambria said she has two quizzes to do this weekend. Emily asked about the thing where she had to make a new food. Ambria told her she made banana pudding. She wrote how it was and what she would have changed about it. Emily asked what she would have changed. Ambria would have made the pudding less soupy. Emily said she made a “cobbler thingy” last week. It was OK. She ate it.
She gave the dog her monthly medications. She talked about the dog and tried to show it. She said the dog makes noise when she’s trying to go to sleep.
Ambria said she should go. Emily recalled that it’s Saturday and asked if she’s doing anything this weekend. Probably not. Emily said she will talk on Wednesday. Emily asked if she has questions, comments, concerns, or thoughts, to send her an email. She told her she’s still playing Duolingo. She said she’ll talk to her on Wednesday.
