Emily said good morning. She asked if Ambria is barely awake. No, she’s been up for a while. Emily asked if she’s had breakfast. Ambria showed her the bowl of oat meal she was eating. Emily asked what flavor. Ambria said raisin. Emily asked if she likes raisins a lot. Only in oatmeal. Emily doesn’t like them much either. Emily asked if she likes oatmeal raisin cookies. Yes. Emily said they’re OK, but she prefers chocolate chips.
Emily asked if Ambria has anything planned today. No. Emily asked how her quizzes went. Ambria told her she had trouble with one but can retake it. Emily asked what history was over. Ancient China. Emily asked if that was fun to learn about. Ambria didn’t really respond. Emily asked if it was just OK. Yes.
Emily asked what they’re learning in French. Telling time. Emily asked if they’re learning how to ask questions. Yes.
Ambria told her she turned in their health project. They had to improve a relationship. Her group decided to improve their relationships with each other by playing games together. Emily said, “That works.”
Emily asked if she had practice on Wednesday. Yes. Emily asked how it went. Very tiring. Emily asked why. Ambria doesn’t know. Ambria said she had to jam once and couldn’t get through. Emily asked why. She was tired. Emily asked how she normally gets through. Pushes through or goes around. Emily asked if that means she has to be quick. Yes. Emily asked if she gets pushed down a lot when she’s blocking. Yes, but not as much as she used to. Emily asked if that happens while jamming. Ambria said it doesn’t matter as long as you get through the pack. Emily asked how many you have to get through. Ambria told her just one and explained how it works. Emily asked if everyone was tired. Yes. Emily guessed it was because of the skate-a-thon.
Emily asked how long the 220 laps took. 45 minutes. Emily asked how fast she was going? Was she just a big blur? Emily asked if any of the males on her team did it. Ambria thought about it. She can’t remember who was there. Then, she said yes. Emily asked if they got a lot of laps. Ambria doesn’t remember.
Emily asked if she’s played any games recently. No. Emily asked if she’s been too busy with school and derby. Yes.
Ambria told her they started watching Romeo and Juliet in language arts class Friday. Emily asked which one. The Leonardo Dicaprio one. Emily said she liked it as a kid. Ambria said she saw it a few years ago and liked it. Emily said she doesn’t know how true it is to the play, but she liked it. Emily asked if Ambria has read the play. Ambria read part of it one time and is reading it in class now. Emily said, “Well, that works out, doesn’t it?”
Emily said she needs to go to the doctor and have her eyes tested. She has trouble driving at night. Ambria suggested night vision goggles. Emily said she would look into that.
Ambria asked about Reda. She’s doing OK. She walked with Emily quite a bit last weekend. There’s a baby bird in the bird case. Emily thought it was sick and dying. There’s a sign on the case that said they were babies and weren’t sick. Emily said there was a man who comes around and changes the birds out. Reda watches the birds every day, so she knows the birds and the man who tends to them. Emily said it’s a neat job.
The dog started barking loudly in the background. Emily said anything might have caused it. She said someone walking by the other day. She barked at someone laughing recently.
Ambria said she wanted to go. Emily said she will talk to her Wednesday. They ended the call at March 7, 2020 9:09 AM .
