The call rang for a long time before Emily answered. She said Ambria was wearing a pretty purple shirt. Ambria thanked her.
Emily asked how school was. Ambria said it was good. She said they started a new project in history. Emily asked what the project is. She said she couldn’t remember if Ambria had told her about it. Ambria described the project to find the ideal city for Amazon. Emily asked what city Ambria got. She got Nashville. Emily said, “That’s not so bad then.”
Ambria told her they’re starting a unit on magnets in science. Emily asked what about them. Ambria said they did the pre-test today. Emily asked how it is. Ambria said she didn’t know much about them. Emily said she doesn’t either. Emily asked if they always pre-test before a unit. Ambria said the teacher was just figuring out what she knows.
Emily asked what Ambria thinks about a knitting box or something like that. Ambria said she used to get one when she was younger. She said it was pretty cool. Emily asked if she would be interested in one of those or a different type. Ambria said yes. Emily asked what type. Ambria told her she likes My Hero Academia, art, and that’s probably it. Emily asked if she feels like she has enough knitting stuff. Ambria told her she has a lot of yarn. Emily said OK.
Ambria told her they had a French quiz today. Emily asked how it went. Ambria said she thinks she did well. It’s about the difference between Starbucks and French cafes. Emily asked what she found out. Ambria said the cafes sell all the Starbucks stuff, but they also sell other items. At Starbucks, you leave after you get your stuff. At French cafes, you sit down and a server waits on you. At Starbucks, you might study or hang out with friends. At a French cafe, you can do those things or you can sit on a terrace and watch people. Emily said, “OK. That makes sense.” Emily asked if she wants to go to France. Ambria said she would like to. Emily asked if she just wants to visit or live there. Ambria isn’t sure.
Emily asked about roller derby. Ambria told her the coach got a concussion recently, so they missed a practice. Emily asked if he’s OK now. Ambria said he should be. Emily asked if they have practice today. Ambria said yes. Emily asked if it’s a scrimmage. No. Emily asked when is the bout. Next month.
Emily asked about the weather. Ambria told her it rained a little over the weekend. She said it’s back to clear now. She said it’s not very cold out; probably in the low 50s during the day. Emily said it’s in the 40s there, down to 18 during the night. Snow Monday. Ambria said she saw pictures. Emily said it’s turned to ice now. It didn’t snow much. School was 2 hours late. Emily said she didn’t make any snow people or dogs or cats. Maybe next time. Ambria said it usually doesn’t snow here until February. Emily said it was an early snow.
