We were preparing for the call when Emily messaged Ambria on Skype:
“Hi Ambria. My car’s oil change is getting finished up and I am paying. I should be able to call you soon.”
Ambria responded with, “OK. How long?”
She waited 10 minutes for a reply before messaging her mom again. “Call me when you’re done. If I’m busy, I’ll call you back.”
Emily called at 9:12am. She asked what she’s doing. Ambria said she just finished breakfast. Emily said she’s at “the oil change place” and figured she’d call Ambria so she didn’t have to wait.
Emily asked about Ambria’s plans. Ambria said she has derby tryouts tomorrow.
Emily asked if Ambria has ranked her Amazon wishlist yet. Ambria said she did.
Emily asked if Ambria will get pumpkins to carve. Ambria said maybe. Emily said they have pumpkins that won’t go bad. Emily said she has mums out and they don’t die too quickly.
Ambria told her they reviewed for the geometry test on Monday. Emily said she’s glad Ambria does well in math.
Ambria told her next week is spirit week. Emily said Ambria had told her about that and Ambria had to tell her what the stuff was. Emily asked about a homecoming game. Ambria said there’s one next Saturday. Emily asked if they vote for homecoming king and queen. Ambria said they voted in advisory but didn’t know who to vote for.
Emily asked if she’s going to the homecoming game. Ambria said no. Emily asked why. Ambria said she just doesn’t go. Emily asked if there’s a pep rally. Ambria said she thinks so.
Emily asked if she’s feeling better from her fall. Ambria said she didn’t have a headache yesterday. Emily asked if she’s been getting better. Ambria said yes.
Ambria told about the game they played in PE and that she kept score. Emily said that was neat.
Emily told Ambria the dog is going for a teeth cleaning. Ambria chuckled. Emily said she had it done a couple of years ago and they’re really bad now.
Emily asked if she’s been to the dentist recently. Ambria said she went a few months ago. Emily asked if everything was good. Ambria said yes.
Ambria asked about Reda. Emily told about her physical therapy. Ambria told Emily to tell her hi and she loves her.
Ambria searched for a new topic of discussion. Ambria said she thinks they played soccer in PE on Thursday. Emily said she always liked soccer. Emily said maybe Ambria can get out of volleyball.
Ambria said she doesn’t think she has any tests other than geometry. Emily asked if her homework is challenging. Ambria said she doesn’t get much homework and none of her classes are super hard.
Emily asked if she’s putting up halloween decorations. Ambria said she doesn’t know. Emily suggested on the balcony. Ambria said maybe. Emily said she might get some door stickers. Emily said the last time she put a sign in the yard, someone took it. She said she might not do that this year or she might. She said she can’t decorate a lot.
Emily asked if she’s going trick-or-treating. Ambria said probably but she doesn’t know yet.
Ambria said she wanted to go. They ended the call at September 28, 2019 9:23 AM.
