Emily asked if she made it back from the first day of school. Ambria said yes. Emily asked if she has all her arms and legs. Ambria said yes. Emily asked how it went.
Ambria told her they were with groups like the WEB groups from 7th grade. They played games, did a tour, and went through their schedules. Emily asked about her schedule. Ambria read it to her.
Emily said that sounds like “quite the schedule.” She questioned physics. Ambria said all 9th graders are required to take physics A and chemistry A. She said it changed this year. They used to require biology. Emily asked if she will take chemistry next semester. Ambria said yes.
Emily asked about lunch. Ambria said there’s a cafeteria that doesn’t hold them all. Emily asked how many people go to the school. Ambria said she doesn’t know but she knows there are over 300 9th graders.
Emily asked what she wore. She told her about the outfit. Emily asked if she was hot or cold. Ambria said school was fine but it’s hot outside. Emily said it’s in the 80s there. Ambria said it’s in the high 70s.
Emily asked what time she gets up. Ambria told her she gets up at 6am. Emily asked about riding the bus. Ambria said it was good. Emily asked if there is a stop near our apartment. Ambria said there is.
Emily asked if she has any homework. Ambria said she does, but it’s stuff about her.
Emily told her she didn’t take physics until her senior year. She said she couldn’t have handled it as a freshman.
Ambria said two of her teachers pronounced her name right on the first try. Emily asked how many there were. She asked how they pronounced it. Ambria told her. Emily asked if she corrects them. Ambria said she does.
Emily asked if she has any classes with friends. Ambria listed a few friends she has classes with including McKenzie, Stella, and Ramona.
Emily asked if they have groups they go to lunch with. Ambria said there’s one group for 9th grade and one for everyone else. Emily asked if she ate today. Ambria said she was too anxious. Emily asked if she’s had a snack. Ambria said she had.
Emily asked about volunteering tonight. Ambria said she is. Emily asked how long it takes to get home from school. Ambria said about 20 minutes. Emily said that’s not bad. Ambria said it may have been less. Emily asked what time she goes to bed. Ambria told her 9pm. Emily said that “sounds OK.”
Emily listed the courses again. She asked if she has gym. Ambria said fitness. Emily said she would continue calling it gym. Ambria said their PE class isn’t very big.
Emily asked how she wore her hair. Down. She asked if she braided it to be wavy. Ambria said yes.
Emily said she’s glad she had a good first day.
Ambria said she’ll have to figure out a regular call time. She will email Emily to let her know. Emily said she thought about her all day today. She said it worked out well.
