Emily called Ambria. The call rang for a long time. Emily finally answered.

Emily asked what she’s been doing. Ambria told her she went to the laundromat because the dryer is broken. She also told her she organized her desk drawer.

Emily asked if she’s enjoying her summer break. Ambria said yes.

Emily told her she got the graduation pictures and the video. She said the dress was cute. She asked who the person was who said her name. Ambria told her it was Mr. Erdal. Emily asked if she’d had him before, and Ambria said no. Emily said she guessed that’s why he messed up her name. Emily asked if people do that a lot. Ambria said yes, but it’s usually just the teachers. She asked if Ambria was nervous. Ambria said yes, especially because she was the first person in her row. Emily asked if she was not the first one to graduate since her last name starts with C. Ambria told her it wasn’t ordered alphabetically. Emily said it turned out pretty good. Ambria agreed. Emily said her outfit worked well together.

Emily asked her about using the phone. Ambria didn’t know what she meant initially but she figured out it was a picture of her using the callbox phone. She explained that to her mom. Emily said that made sense.

Emily asked if she went out to eat afterward or do anything special. Ambria said she went before and we went for pie afterward. Emily asked where she went. Ambria told her we went to West 5. Emily asked what she had. Ambria said a hummus platter. Emily asked what pie she got. Ambria told her she got a key lime pie.

Ambria told her mom we might go to a 4th of July parade tomorrow. Emily asked if that’s downtown. Ambria said it’s south, closer to the skating rink.

Emily asked if she went to the parade on Sunday. Ambria said yes, and it was packed. Emily said she bets it was. Ambria said they couldn’t really see.

Emily pointed out her hummingbird. Ambria asked if she’d told Emily about her plants. Emily recalled what she could about them. Ambria filled in the blanks. Ambria told her the mixed greens got big and had to be moved outside. Emily said not to let her look at them or they would die. Emily showed some of her plants. Ambria told her she named some of the plants. She told her about the pot she got for them. Emily said she nearly killed a fern but she doesn’t think there’s much hope for it.

Emily asked if she’s going to the skate park. She said she guessed she’s further from it. Ambria said a little farther but not much. She will still take the bus like before.

Ambria told her she’s sending some letters over the next few days. Her mom said OK.

Ambria said she wanted to go. They ended the call at July 3, 2019 3:10 PM.
