Ambria called Emily. The call rang on Skype for a long time before Emily eventually picked up. She asked what Ambria is doing. Ambria told her she just had breakfast: french toast with bananas and raisins. Emily asked if she made it and if the bananas are fresh. Emily asked about school. Ambria said it was good. She told her about yesterday’s assembly about equality. She told her they had a native American and a Holocaust survivor. Emily asked what she learned. Ambria told her about the holocaust survivor and how he was separated from his parents and then later reunited. Emily said it was good they were reunited. She asked what she learned about the native American. Ambria said she had gone to Madison and told about the native American government. Emily said “they have their own separate a lot of things.” Ambria told her she has practice and a scrimmage tomorrow morning. Emily asked about who it was against. Ambria said it’s against some people on her team and some on the next team up in the league. Emily asked what that meant. Ambria explained. Emily asked what ages. Ambria said she doesn’t know. Emily asked if it’s 17. Ambria said she thinks so. Ambria told her the other team is the same age limits but most of them are older. Emily asked if she thinks they will win. Ambria said she doesn’t know. Emily asked if there are places near where Ambria lives that she likes to go. Ambria said the beach, the park, the library, and the art store. Emily asked if she gets art supplies there. Ambria said they’re expensive. Emily said she’d see how far that is from where we live. She asked if Ambria walks to it. Ambria said she can but she usually takes the bus. Emily asked about restaurants. Ambria told her we ate at the Brass Knuckle Bistro before her roller derby practice a few weeks ago. Ambria told her they had a lot of hot sauces. Emily asked if she’s feeling better. Ambria said she did. Emily asked about Chester. Ambria said no. Ambria said second semester starts in February. Emily asked what classes she’ll be taking. Emily asked about PE. Ambria said she thinks she’ll be taking it. Emily said she dreads it for her already.
