Ambria called Emily. She asked what Ambria is doing. Ambria said she just got home from school. Emily asked how it was. Ambria said good. Emily asked if she did anything different. Ambria said Monday they got to go outside and run around. Emily asked how that went. Ambria said it was good and gave the context. (It was a science thing.) Ambria told her they got a pet in Science: a guinea pig names Chester. Emily asked how that works. Ambria told her he’s in a cage in the corner and they look at him sometimes. Emily asked if they can’t hold him. Ambria said she thinks they can but she never has. Emily asked about feeding him. Ambria said her class doesn’t feed him. Emily said, “Your class just looks at him.” Emily asked if she has a lot of homework. Ambria said she has to finish a packet and practice for her test retake. Emily asked what a test retake is. Ambria said they get to retake a test if they get below a certain grade threshold. Emily asked if it’s the same test. Ambria said the questions are similar but different. Emily asked if the first score counts. Ambria said that’s right. The parts they retake replace the old grades. Emily asked what the parts were, and Ambria told her. Emily said she had to use her calculator, huh, and asked if it gave her the correct answers. Ambria said it did. Ambria asked about Reda. Emily said she’s still eating puréed foods and getting distracted. Emily has to get her back on track. Emily asked about art class. Ambria said it’s good. They went outside and gather materials for their sculptures today. Ambria said they’re going to work on them tomorrow. Emily asked if she has a plan. Ambria’s group is making a circle out of rocks and some other things out of twigs and leaves. Ambria searched for a topic. Emily asked if Ambria will still go to volunteer tonight. Ambria said she has too much homework. Emily asked what she’s doing in English. Ambria corrected her that it’s called “language arts.” She said they’re learning about historical fiction. Emily asked if they have to read a specific book. Ambria said they don’t but will be writing their own. They’re reading previous classes’ stories. Emily asked about lunch and whether she sits with Lauren. Ambria said no and that she’s sitting with MacKenzie. Ambria said Halloween and her birthday are coming up soon. Emily said that’s true and asked “what does that mean?” Ambria said she’s not sure what she’s doing for her birthday yet nor what she’s going as. She gave her a few options she’s considering. They talked about the vampire option. Emily told Ambria all the things she had when she went as a vampire. Ambria said she wanted to go. Emily asked when the math retake is and wished her luck. They ended the call at 3:09 PM.
