Ambria called Emily. Emily asked how she is today. Ambria said she is good. Emily asked if Ambria had received the calculator. Ambria said yes. Emily asked what she thinks about it. Ambria said it’s big. Ambria showed it to her on the camera. Emily said she thinks Ambria will have a lot of fun with that. Ambria said, “Yeah.” Ambria told Emily she went to the gym today. Emily asked what she did. Ambria walked on the treadmill and lifted weights. Ambria told her she played Minecraft and went to buy some hangers. Ambria said she has been re-organizing her closet. Emily asked how. Ambria explained how she is sorting her clothes. Emily said that will make it easier to find stuff. Emily asked if she’s going to get rid of her dresser or if she has everything hanging already. Ambria said it’s all in her closet. Emily asked if she has a lot of clothes. Ambria said she has enough. Ambria asked about Reda. Emily said she’s about the same. She said Reda has to be approved or certified for a certain number of days. They thought she is at her peak of regaining function. Emily said that isn’t true because she can’t walk, feed herself, or do many of her daily activities. Emily said she wants her to at least be able to eat. They are having to go through a re-certification process so she can have more days of rehab so that she is at least able to swallow. Emily said they are doing another swallow test in a few weeks (3-4). They are having her “try to get the swallowing stronger.” Emily said she can barely see Ambria due to the sun. Emily wants her to be able to swallow puréed food. She asked if Ambria has questions. Ambria said she doesn’t. She told her mom she starts school in one week. Emily asked if she’s ready. Ambria said she guesses so. Emily asked if they have a half-day. Ambria said no. Ambria told about the first day (getting your locker in advisory). Emily asked if advisory is the same as last year. Ambria said it’s different. Emily asked who the advisory teacher is. Ambria said she doesn’t know yet. She will be able to see the schedule 9/4. Ambria said they will give her a printed schedule at school. Emily said she is excited for Ambria. Emily asked about the new roller derby league. Ambria said tryouts are at the end of September. Emily said Ambria doesn’t have to do those. Ambria clarified that she still has to do them but she is guaranteed a spot. Emily asked about volunteering. Ambria said she will continue to do it at the same place and plans to go tonight. Ambria asked about the animals. Emily said she will give Panda a bath tonight. Ambria asked if it’s hot. Emily said yes; it’s about 89. Ambria said it was a little hot yesterday but there’s a nice breeze today. She’s not sure what it will be tomorrow. She hasn’t seen the weather. Long pause. The call froze at about 3:08 PM. Ambria waited for a few seconds and the call ended. Ambria sent her mom a text message via Skype:

Don‘t know what happened there. It just froze. I’ll talk to you on Saturday. Love you, -Ambria.
