Ambria called Emily. They both said hello. There was a very long pause (15 seconds?). Emily asked what Ambria is doing. Ambria said she’s going to play Minecraft and do some cleaning. Emily asked about volunteering. Ambria said we won’t today. Emily said it’s good to take a break sometimes. Emily asked if she’s been skating. Ambria said not recently. Emily asked about the trip to the island. Ambria said the ferry ride was really cool and told her about getting a bagel. Emily asked what kind of bagel and what Ambria likes on them. Ambria said plain with cream cheese. Ambria said the island was cool and we went in a bunch of shops. She told her about the toy store and the boutiques. She told her about going to the pizza place. Emily asked what she got. Ambria said it was fancy and she didn’t remember what all is on it. Emily said it sounds good. Ambria told her Nana and Poppy left on Monday. Emily said they had a pretty long visit. Ambria said yes. Emily said that’s good. Emily asked if Ambria starts school on the 5th. Emily asked if she’s excited. Ambria said kinda. Ambria told her she emailed the calculator she needs. Emily said, “graphing calculator, huh?” Emily said she didn’t know what else she needs. Ambria said she’s already gotten it. Ambria asked about Reda. Emily said she’s about the same. She said you have to reminder her to use her voice. Ambria asked what she talks about. Emily said different stuff. Emily said she tells her about what she learns in speech therapy. Emily said she’s still not making progress with eating and still being fed with a tube. Emily said it might never be able to be removed. Emily said the longer they are on it, they are more likely to stay on it for life. Emily said she might be able to get it removed but she isn’t sure. Emily said that, even if she wasn’t using it, they would keep it in for a while. Ambria asked about her arm and leg. Emily said that arm doesn’t do much of anything. The toe has a little bit of wiggle. They told her the leg will come back before the arm. Ambria asked if they know how long. Emily said no. Emily asked “how long for what?” Ambria said how long it will take for anything to get better. Emily said they told her you can spend many many months recovering — possibly a two-year process — before all the function you can get is there. Ambria said she will email some pictures in the next few days to show to Reda. She asked if she will show them to Reda. Emily didn’t respond and then asked what Ambria wants her to do with the pictures. Ambria said to show them to Reda. Emily said OK. Ambria said there are some from her derby prom and some from the things she’s done this summer. Emily asked about school pictures. Ambria said she’ll be sending last year’s school picture. Emily asked how the school pictures were and speculated it was still like when she was a kid. Ambria said it was. Ambria told her about the pictures that Mary Ann took and that she would send those too. Emily said that would be very nice to see “for both of us.” Ambria said she wanted to go. Emily said, “Oh, OK.” Emily asked what she’s doing the rest of the week. Ambria said relaxing but might hang out with Lauren. They ended the call at 3:09 PM.
