Ambria called Emily. Emily asked what she’s having for breakfast. Ambria said toads in a hole and fruit. Emily asked what that is. Ambria explained toads in a hole. Emily asked about her last two days at skateboard camp. Ambria said she practiced on Thursday. Friday, she tried three new things: going down a big ramp, going over a little bump, and going down a different smaller ramp. Emily asked if the big ramp was fun. Ambria said it was. Emily asked how many times she tried it. Ambria said 5-6 times. Emily asked how she mentally prepares to go down it. Ambria said you just don’t think about it. Emily asked if it’s over with now. Ambria said yes. Ambria told her she got a skateboard as an early birthday gift and showed it to her mom. Emily said it was neat and that she liked it. Emily asked where she got it. Ambria said she got it at a place called Evo. Emily asked if she knew. Ambria said it was supposed to be a surprise but she suspected it. Emily said it’s good and asked if she had everything she needs. Ambria said yes. Emily asked how far the skatepark is. Ambria said about 20 minutes by bus. Emily asked if she’d be going there a lot. Ambria said she hopes so. Emily asked if the skateboard was a tough decision. Ambria said she made the decision pretty quickly. Emily asked if she’s a skateboarder now. Ambria said she guesses so. Emily said she thinks so. Now Ambria just needs to practice. Emily said she was 15-16 when she got her skateboard and didn’t have a camp to go to. Emily asked if Ambria had found any of hers. Ambria said yes and that she didn’t have much luck riding it. Emily asked what Ambria has planned for the weekend. Ambria told her we’re going to the Alki Art Fair. She described it for her mom and told her about last year’s craft tent. Emily asked about tomorrow. Ambria said we don’t really have anything planned. Emily asked what Ambria does during the week. Ambria said she goes to the gym, plays a game, eats lunch, sometimes goes to the beach… Emily asked if she walks to the beach. Ambria said no. Emily asked what her shirt says. Ambria told her it says “design matters.” Ambria asked how Reda is. Emily said she’s about the same. She’s still whispering, sometimes a little louder. Ambria asked what she says. Emily asked what Ambria does at the gym. Ambria told her the routine. Emily said that sounds fun. She asked how long Ambria stays. Ambria said 30-45 minutes. Emily asked if Ambria will do any extracurricular activities during the school year or just roller derby. Emily asked if she knows any classes. Ambria said she won’t know until the first day. Emily said she didn’t hear, and Ambria repeated. Emily asked again and Ambria repeated again. Emily asked if Ambria has made any more meals. Ambria said no. She hasn’t been doing much since she started camp. Emily asked if she will make some more. Ambria said maybe. Emily said she wants to try some of Ambria’s dessert. Ambria said she wants to go. Emily did not respond. She asked Ambria to repeat. Ambria did. Emily said OK and that it froze for a bit. They ended the call at 9:09 AM.
