Ambria called Emily. Emily asked what she’s doing. Ambria said we’re about to go to Queen Anne. Emily asked what we’re going to do. Ambria said we’re just going to look around. Emily said that sounds like fun. She asked about school. Ambria said it was good. She said they started learning about the respiratory system. Emily said, “That’s fun. That’s not too bad.” She said both her animals are awake and eating. She said she’s switching Panda to a different food. Ambria said, “Hmm…” as if she was trying to think about what to say. Emily asked about the state test. Ambria said they’re finished with the math and have one day to finish the history one. She has a Washington State history final in June. Emily said she had Tennessee history in 7th grade. She noticed Ambria’s nails were painting. She asked if Ambria did it herself. Ambria said she did one hand herself. Ambria told her mom she’s been going to the roof in the evenings. She said she plays with a ball, practices cartwheels, and reads. Emily asked if it’s just her. Ambria said it’s her and Tiffany. Emily asked what the roof is like. Ambria told her about the plants, couches and chairs, grills, and the tables. Emily said, “That’s neat.” Ambria told her about the terrace on the second floor. Emily said it sounded nice and relaxing. She asked if Ambria goes there to read. Ambria said she does sometimes. Emily asked if Ambria has practice tomorrow. Ambria said no. Emily asked about events. Ambria said they have derby prom on the last day of school. Emily asked what it was like. Ambria described it. They talked about what Ambria will wear. Emily asked about fancy sandals. Ambria said she just has her Chacos. Emily said she “wouldn’t call those not fancy.” Ambria told Emily they’re writing an essay in Language Arts on contact sports. Emily asked if she wrote about her football experience. Ambria said no, but she used her roller derby experience. Ambria said she claimed contact sports should have more safety. Emily grilled her about how safe roller derby is. Ambria said she doesn’t feel like roller derby should have more rules. Ambria said she used a time when she got hurt and got to decide if she should keep playing. Emily asked a lot of questions about roller derby injuries Ambria has had. Ambria said she wanted to go. Emily said “Talk to you later,” instead of her typical “talk to you on Wednesday,” indicating she knows they won’t be talking on Wednesday due to court. They ended the call at 9:08 AM.
