Ambria called Emily. The call rang for a long time before Emily picked up. Emily asked if she’s having an after-school snack. Ambria said yes. She told Emily she talked to Reda. Emily asked what she said. Ambria said Reda was looking for cats. Emily asked about school. Ambria said she started the big state math test today. Emily asked how many questions. Ambria said not many. Emily asked, “More than 15?” Ambria said about 30. Ambria told her about the test. It’s online, there’s a built-in calculator, and you get scratch paper to work on. Emily said it sounds pretty standard. She asked what Ambria’s doing in PE. Ambria said football. Emily asked if she’s made it to quarterback yet. Ambria said she was supposed to be the 5th quarterback but they didn’t get that far. She said she doesn’t know what the quarterback is. She told a story about trying to catch a pass. Emily asked if Ambria’s bout is this weekend. Ambria said it is. Emily asked if she’s ready. Ambria said she is. Ambria told her about the essay about contact sports in language arts. Emily asked about Ambria’s claim, and Ambria got it out and read it to her. Emily asked about the weather. Ambria said it’s been pretty nice. She said the high today is 70. Emily said it’s either raining or is going to rain. She told about walking her dog. Ambria asked what the dog is doing now. Emily said she’s “reverse sneezing.” Emily asked if Ambria is doing her volunteering. Ambria said she is. Emily asked if she will do it through the summer too. Ambria said she hopes so. Emily said she didn’t see why not. They talked about what she does and whether other people from her school are also there. Emily asked if there are other people from her school that live in the building. Ambria said no. They both agreed that’s strange. Ambria said she needed to go to finish homework. Emily asked about the homework, and Ambria described it. They ended the call at 3:08 PM.
