Ambria called Emily. Skype gave her the message “Your connection is too weak.” We retried the call at 8:59 AM. We got the same message again on the second attempt. This was attempted at home on our wifi, and the speed test came back plenty fast enough for a call. I tried restarting the Skype app, and that seemed to help. She was able to get the call to ring her mom at 9:02 AM. Ambria told her she had tried to call. Emily said she got Ambria’s letter on Thursday. She said she loved the different colors and that it’s very legible. She said it looks like her writing used to look around Ambria’s age. Emily asked Ambria to tell about her video project in tech class. Ambria described it. Emily asked what the animation was about. Ambria said hers has a galaxy background. She thought about doing a shooting star. She said she couldn’t get it exactly lined up, but it was fun. Emily said it sounds really neat. Emily said she read the back of it. She said she hates Ambria didn’t win but is glad she got something out of it. Emily noted Ambria likes drawing hearts and mentioned the flower. She said she likes purple flowers. She talked about the travel brochure and said it was very informative. She said Ambria worked really hard on it and that it was really neat. She said she did a pamphlet but hers was hand-written and wasn’t very good. She said it was “real neat” and she liked it. Ambria said her teacher said it looked good and she got an ES (exceeding standards). They talked about the different grading scales between their times in school. Emily talked about the coloring page Ambria sent. The pages are from a farting animals coloring book. Emily asked if Ambria talked to Reda. Ambria said no but she sent her a letter too. Emily asked if she also included things in it. Ambria said she did. Ambria asked what Emily’s pets are doing. Emily said she got the dog a onesie because she’s cold. Ambria asked why she’s cold. Emily said she doesn’t know. Ambria asked if Emily remembers when the dogs at Reda’s wore the sweaters. Emily asked if Ambria had thought about things she wants to do this summer. Ambria said she liked the arcade and the mini golf. She said she likes Splash Country too. Emily said hopefully there’d be several weeks so she’d have time. Emily said it’s hard to think of things to do. She asked if Ambria has any plans for the day. Ambria said we’re going to a huge Goodwill and a gaming festival in Seattle Center. Emily said, “That will be fun for you.” Ambria said she thinks you get to try some new ones. Emily asked if she’s tried any new ones recently. Ambria said no. Emily asked if anything different in school. Ambria said they did vocabulary. Emily talked about having to write in cursive and pen in school as part of her grade. Ambria started ending the call at 9:11 AM and finally finished at 9:12 AM.
