Ambria called Emily. She told her mom that she’s on crutches because she sprained her ankle at the roller derby bout. Her mom asked if it was just a sprain and not a fracture. Ambria said yes. Emily asked if she had a splint. Ambria said no and that it is almost better. Ambria told her she has a bandage for it too. Emily asked what happened. Ambria described how she got tangled up with one of the other girls on two different occasions, with Ambria falling on her ankle once and another girl falling on it on another occasion. Emily said, “So, your first injury, huh?” Ambria said yes and told her she got an Xray. Emily said she was glad it wasn’t broken. Ambria told her she is going on a field trip to the University of Washington for a performance and for lunch. Emily asked if she would take the crutches. Ambria said she will. Emily asked if Ambria’s friends have to walk slowly, and Ambria said they do. They also talked about taking a backpack. Ambria said she won’t take one tomorrow. Emily asked if Ambria thought it was broken. Ambria said she didn’t. Emily asked if she wanted to keep skating and if she got to. Ambria said she did. She didn’t get to go to the doctor until the next morning. Emily told a story about her cat eating her seasoned tofu she left out. Ambria told about the worksheet she worked on today in PE instead of volleyball. Emily said that was good and that she’d rather do anything except play volleyball. Ambria told Emily she got an elevator key and how many times she has to ride the elevator. Emily said it sounds like Ambria spends the whole day riding the elevator. Ambria said there are 3 elevators in the school and she rides all of them. Emily told about times she had hurt her ankle but she hadn’t been on crutches. Ambria laughed at a story about Emily falling. Ambria ended the call at 3:14 PM.
