Ambria called Emily. Ambria told her she is finishing breakfast. She told her she had an egg-white omelette, pear, biscuits, and a tangerine. Emily said, “That sounds like a very good and filling breakfast.” She told her mom she did well on the retake of the science test. She said they just finished studying natural selection and are now doing adaptations. She told her mom she didn’t have roller derby practice yesterday. She told her mom she’s going to Target to get a birthday present for Kayla. Emily asked what she was getting. She said she might get a craft kit for her. Her mom asked how far it is to Target. Ambria said it was about an hour to the one downtown before correcting herself that it was more like half an hour. She told her mom she had finished hockey and didn’t know what sport they were playing next. She said they had done the pacer test. Emily asked if she likes pears. Ambria said she used to not like it but now she does. Emily said the texture bothers her. Ambria told that she’s been trying to draw from sight. She said they are OK, but she thinks she will get better. Her mom agreed she will get better with practice. She asked if Emily would like to see some of the drawings. She went to her room and got them. She showed them to her mom, and her mom said they look OK. Ambria pointed out one that she says looks kinda scary. Her mom called out the third one. Ambria talked about her two biography projects: the Dave Grohl one for history and the one on her classmate for language arts. She said she would be Dave Grohl on 3/22. The classmate bio is due 3/14. She says she thinks they will get a copy of the bio their classmate does on them. She told her mom the grade she got on her ancient civilization pamphlet: an ES (exceeds standards). Her mom asked who else got an ES. Ambria said she doesn’t know. Emily asked if she had to turn a project in or if it was just writing. Ambria told her it was a project to produce a pamphlet like a travel brochure. Emily asked if she drew. Ambria said no. Emily asked if she printed or how she made it. Ambria said she typed it, got pictures from the internet, and printed it out. Emily said it would be hard to hand-write because, if she messed up, you’d have to start over again. Emily said that wouldn’t have been a difficult project for her. Ambria said she had trouble finding the information first but eventually found them. Emily asked if she had her costume for Dave Grohl. Ambria said she has drumsticks but nothing else. Emily asked how the project worked, and Ambria described it to her. Emily asked who it is for. Ambria said she thinks it is for parents. Emily said it sounds like it will be fun. Ambria agreed. Ambria said she doesn’t have practice on Sunday because we are going to Comic Con. Emily asked if she is excited. Ambria said she is and that some of her friends are going to be there. Ambria said she didn’t have time to come up with a costume, so she will wear her Pikachu jacket. Ambria asked about pets, and Emily said she is late feeding them. Emily said she wants to go to get ready. They ended the call at 9:12 AM.
