Ambria called Emily on Skype. The call never rang. Skype gave us a message saying she isn’t online.

Ambria retried the call at 3:00 PM. It rang this time and Emily answered. Emily asked what Ambria was doing. Ambria said she just got off the phone with Reda who has been walking with Brenda. Emily asked what Ambria’s snack is. Ambria showed her the pretzels with chocolate hummus. Emily said, “You like that, don’t you?” Ambria replied she does. Emily asked how school was and if Ambria had trouble getting back into “the daily grind.” Ambria said kinda. Ambria told her they went to the weight room. They picked partners and did two stations. She told her mom that she and Mackenzie did the jump rope station, and she got 18 sets. She told her mom that, after jump rope, she did bikes and got hot and tired. Emily asked how far she biked. Ambria said she only biked three minutes, so she didn’t get very far. Ambria also told about the elliptical and the curl-ups. Emily said it sounded like fun. Ambria agreed. Ambria told her mom she’d done 20 pounds. Ambria didn’t seem to think so. Ambria said tomorrow is her last day of hockey. Emily asked if that is good or bad. Ambria said it was OK. Emily asked which days she has gym. Ambria told her every day. Ambria told about her PE homework — the Madison fitness routine and 15 minutes of physical activity. Emily asked what her 15 minutes would be today. Ambria said it would be standing at the food bank. Emily asked if she has to do 15 minutes every day. Ambria said yes. She also told that they have to do the fitness routine 2x/day. Emily said it doesn’t sound too bad. Ambria told her mom she had trouble recalling the routine when telling Reda about it. Emily said the sports she disliked the most were volleyball and softball. Ambria said she likes volleyball but doesn’t like softball. Ambria told her mom they are doing the pacer test on Friday. Her mom didn’t say anything for several seconds. Ambria asked if she knows what the pacer test is. Emily said she doesn’t. Ambria explained it for her. Emily asked if there’s anything Ambria needs for school or roller derby. Ambria said she can’t think of anything. (Emily still hasn’t donated to Ambria’s roller derby fundraiser.) Emily asked if Reda showed Ambria the cats. Ambria said she didn’t. Emily asked about Ambria’s roller derby practice. Ambria said it went well and told her they had a pool party. Emily said, “Oh yeah!” and asked about the party. Ambria said it was fun. She told her mom about the swim test they had to pass before swimming in the deep water and being in the baby pool before that. Emily said, “Hm. That’s funny.” Emily asked if she passed the swim test and what she had to do. Ambria described it and let her know she passed. Emily asked if there was a diving board. Ambria said no. Emily asked if she can actually dive. Ambria said no and she doesn’t go on the tall diving board. Emily asked if there were any tests coming up or that she had done recently. Ambria told her about a math test. Ambria said she wanted to go at 3:13 PM. Emily said she will talk to her on Saturday. They ended the call at 3:13 PM.
